Im sure this site is too far gone to appreciate a movie with a female lead but this looks very Guardians of the Galaxy vibe, which makes sense from James Gunn. I feel like this can be as good as last years superman which really grew on me. My first watch I was overwhelmed at the frenetic pace and the starting in the middle of the action but I ended up having it on repeat all summer in the house.
Didn't like the new superman when I saw it.
Still don't now.
NEVER have been a fan of James Gunn's work... I didn't like Guardians of the galaxy....any of it. Too quippey and trite. Lacks real empathy and relatable characters. Story arc had huge plot holes and motivations. Basically it never lost its stupidity in any of its sequels or cameos in the crap called Marvel.
So....
I thank you for the warning and won't waste any time on this....much less any hard earned cash. Looks forgettable just like the rest of Gunn's work....if you can really call trash "work".
Actors are nothing more than professional prostitutes....puppets with someone else pulling the strings. But a good actor can make you almost believe the characters they play. Kinda like believability in that prostitute you hired for a couple hundred dollars. That somehow she really likes you and doesn't just do it for the money you pay her. Until the day you run out of cash and the illusion is gone.
I haven't believed in much coming out of Hollywood in a long time. Hail Mary was a good exception. Believable characters.... script....solutions....conflicts and motivations.
Superhero movies are like Avatar....a train load of hype and a ton of overdone visuals you get tired of after the first ten minutes.
Heck....the way things are currently going the entire movie was completely laid out in that trailer in the OP and you can imagine the rest as being a carbon copy of any of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies.
