Austrian German is a very different version of German.

They speak German like Scots speak English.

And the simple fact is neither one is English, like what the Liberian president spoke so "beautifully".

you might say that Austrian German is a variant of Bavarian.

That used to be somewhat true, but not so much anymore. Blame TV and movies.

I remember decades ago going through Alabama, I couldn't understand them. Radio and television has changed that and softened the accents
