No. West is a member of the Texas State Guard, a partisan controlled group that is little more than one of those back woods militias. He is not, and never will be a member of our nation's military forces.He's back in the National Guard so evidently the powers that be didn't take it too seriously.

The National Guard is a state-based military force that becomes part of the reserve components of the United States Army and the United States Air Force when activated for federal missions. A reserve component is not the same as federal military. West was inducted into the State Guard at a baseball game. I'm not aware of any real military personnel inducted as a publicity stunt at a ball game.The State Guard is an official part of the State Military forces, which also includes the Army National Guard and Air national guard.
