Stop Antisemitism

On the outbreak of WW2, 130,000 Palestinian Jews (Jews in the Mandate for Palestine) volunteered for the British Army. Despite the alignment of their leadership with the Nazis, several thousand Palestinian Arabs also signed up.

Many or most of them did so as a result of financial compensation paid to them by Palestinian Jews because the British Army conditioned Jewish enlistment on Arab enlistment. The Jews were so determined to serve they raised the funds to induce Arabs to do so.

I have respect and admiration for the service and sacrifice of the Palestinian Arabs, irrespective of motivation, but it is important to understand the context.

That flag and the accompanying graffiti was not laid at the Cenotaph out of respect for Palestinian Arabs who died fighting with the British in war, but to signify the support for Hamas of the protesters.
