More accurately, the fewer impediments there are to voting, the more people are likely to vote. And the more people that vote, the better the democrats do.

Truer representation generally benefits democrats, as they have policies that align with the will of the people more closely than republicans do.

Take abortion for example. The abortion restrictions placed by conservative states after the fall of Roe are deeply unpopular, with almost a super majority of Americans believing that abortion should be legal in most or all cases.

Conservative legislatures have pushed these restrictions, often over the protest of the majority of their citizens. So, citizens have started to push for a direct vote by the people. And where these direct votes have occurred, abortion restrictions have fallen.

Even in deep red Kansas overturned abortion restrictions. Its on the ballot in Florida ....with nearly 70% of the population in favor of restoring Roe era abortion access.

The more people that vote, the more democratically aligned policies are enacted. The more people vote, the better democrats do.

Which is why republicans push to limit voting.
