I don't know about these days because I've not been within 25 feet of a pregnancy test in about 40 years, but it used to be that the presence of HCG in a woman's blood or urine used to indicate pregnancy.

People these days -- anyone stupid enough to believe that he can get pregnant -- might have that much difficulty interpreting a home pregnancy test.
