The latest Star Trek movie was kind of stupid. It didn't make sense and I didn't quite understand the plot until the very end. I didn't even know it had a plot until it got to the end. It was just one long action sequence that didn't make any sense.

welcome to JJ Abrams version of trek....

the plot was pretty straight forward... in some ways overly simplistic

how could it confuse you?

Hint: Two words - "Super Democrat" ;)

I wait for most movies to come out on Netflix before watching so I won't be disappointed after spending $40+ for the wife and I to see a movie.

i managed to see it on the thursday night open. 3d large screen format. $12.

it very much felt like a good episode of tos, with better action. i don't think i saw one two handed axe chop, a chop to the neck, or a two legged flying kick.

I couldn't figure out what was going on in it and it didn't even make any sense and the little that I did understand wasn't even appealing. The overall plot was stupid. It started out going after this one guy and then the bad guy turned out to be someone else and for some reason Ahora knew it was the guy from some other starship in the past. That made sense but nothing else did. THe only thing that the producers did to give it the illusion of a story was to put loud noises and dramatic action sequences to keep you emotions running high. It is like bad sex. It was really exciting while you were doing it but afterward you realized it wasn't that great. That is what these movies feel like.

I hate how movies use dramatic action sequences to pump up the interest in the story.

AKA "pop corn movie". Some people like action and Hollywood is anxious to serve up what people will pay tickets to see. Sometimes they bomb.

Let's not forget that many "classic" movies bombed at the box office but are well enjoyed by many others. One is "It's a Wonderful Life" which found a life on television. At the same time, some mediocre movies made tons of money such as Minions and some of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Good, fun movies, but not exactly classics.

That's true but high budget movies like start trek, Star Wars, Independence Day etc....... Will not reach Netflix or HBO for a long time...... Like Revenant ( Leonardo Caprio) released 12/15 and still not in Netflix or HBO........ But get one of this..... I can watch all these new release movies plus ALL other movies, sports etc. etc....... in my living room for FREE........ Just one time fee of $40. This is picture is from my TV menu new release section. I am willing to share my source .......... But I'm not sure if the moderator will let me.

I was speaking of the DVDs, not streaming. However, all of those movies will be on PPV in 6-8 months for a few bucks and the entire family can watch for a tenth the cost. Well worth spending $800 on a big screen TV rather than blowing it at the movies every weekend.

Agree... but I can watch all those movies over and over for free plus all movies from 70s to 2016, plus PPV sports ( only delayed a week ) and you can watch it over over, pornos, documentaries etc. etc ..... pause/play and I don't have to wait 7 to 8 months . .......... It's awesome I love it........ But I can only watch no more than 2 movies a week.....
Only one time fee of $40. I canceled my HBO and Netflix last October and I have not been to movie theater except when wife wants to go out.
Anyway just a suggestion for those members that love to watch movies. Especially for those retirees that stay at home most of the time.

Also there are tons of movies that don't make it to movie theater but good story.
