Is it just me, or are these outfits working together? The spyware pop-ups are almost as bad as the spying. They have a way of constantly warning that your computer will explode unless you pay $49.99 for their program.

First of all, get a popup blocker. There are very effective free blockers available online.

One here if you really need it:

Anyway. There are spyware companies that will actually load a spyware program that runs popups selling the solution. Get a valid spyware program like Webroot Spysweeper and compliment it with a good overlalpping software like Counterspy. The two together will keep your computer clean, all that along with a popup blocker will keep your internet stay much more inviting.

When you buy a PC in US you get it with different preinstalled software that slow computer's performance. Be aware that most common spam and spyware blockers just do not work. So clean up your PC from most programs you find installed and search for some that are helpful.

I got a Dell notebook for a friend and I needed to spend a few hours to clean useless programs.

I've wondered this often myself. It would be a great model of advertising! Screw up the computers and then run in to the rescue with your programs.

Here are a list of programs I HIGHLY recommend for all computers:

Lavasoft AdAware - http://www.download.com/3405-8022-5153545.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5

Crap Cleaner - http://www.ccleaner.com/
