Sprit Airlines was in financial trouble for many, many years. They filed for bankruptcy two times, and had not shown a profit since 2019. They were also asking for merger with JetBlue which could have possibly saved them, and it was denied.

They emerged from bankruptcy in 2025 restructured and reduced expenses with plan to achieve profitability by 2027.
That plan did not include jet fuel prices nearly doubling.
Actually ... Buttigieg and Biden would have been to blame if they actually WERE to blame. But it was a Reagan appointed judge that blocked the merger.
Spirit's own statement claims that while they were frantically trying to restructure the company and find ways to keep it afloat ... the price of fuel forced them to close the doors. So the GOP (Reagan's judge & Trumpanyahu) did the company in.

Actually they did emerge from their first bankruptcy in March of 2025, only to file for a second bankruptcy in late August of the same year (2025). They had failed to show an actual profit since 2019.

I was just clarifying your comment that Spirit had emerged from bankruptcy. They did indeed emerge from their first bankruptcy, but as of their closing a few days ago they had been unable to actually emerge from their second bankruptcy that was filed in August of 2025.
They were financially insolvent. And had been for many years. They were given two chances, and yet were unable to show a profit.

You know, you’re right. They hadn’t emerged from the August bankruptcy.
But it’s dumb to say that the high fuel prices didn’t have anything to do with it.
