What is this? A rotating northern light? Were people able to watch this phenomenon physically - or is this a kind of simulation or reproduction? Or is this only an illustration of some ideas? Why should electrons not turn around the North pole and emit light (=the excange particle of the the electro-magnetic force)?

The northern lights are caused by solar winds from the sun hitting the earths atmosphere. This "space storm" is plasma falling to the earth, but it technically isnt in space, but rather very high up in the thermosphere.
