Will likely still give us the same old crappy, low grade black and white photos of the moon that they've been pawning off on us since the 60s.

There are plenty of true color pics of the moon online; have been for a long time. From low sun to high sun, as the hues change at various places on the surface. Telescope pics from here on Earth are the grainy ones with no colors.

Photos show the rocket and spacecraft that NASA will use to launch astronauts toward the moon for the first time in more than 50 years.

i think it's a very good decision to build a moonbase before we start work on a mars base
Should have been done long ago. We might already be moving on to exploring the moons of Jupiter in person if we had.

Moon --> Mars and it's moons --> Jupiter's moons --> and the kind of all the gas-giants. Once we set up a system-wide network where we occupy most of the solar system, even if only expeditionary in some cases, we will be ready to plod on into the greater cosmos. We could even use comets and asteroids as vehicles! Interplanetary free bus rides. We get off and ride our scooters to the final legs of our destinations. Roboticized mining and manufacturing needs to be our primary focus whenever we land anywhere. And we need to leave those places more inhabitable than they are when we arrive.

Is that orange color rust?

The moon appears orange due to atmospheric conditions that filter light, particularly when it is low on the horizon.

Atmospheric

When the moon is near the horizon, its light must pass through a thicker layer of the Earth's atmosphere compared to when it is high in the sky. This increased distance causes shorter wavelengths of light (blue and violet) to scatter more, while longer wavelengths (red, orange, and yellow) are less affected and reach our eyes. As a result, the moon can take on an orange or yellow hue during these times.

Seasonal

The phenomenon is often more pronounced during certain times of the year, such as around the autumn equinox, when the moon rises at a narrower angle to the horizon. Additionally, there may be more dust and particles in the air during this season, which can further scatter shorter wavelengths of light and enhance the orange appearance of the moon.

Other

Other factors can also contribute to an orange moon, such as wildfire smoke or air pollution, which can add additional particles to the atmosphere, intensifying the orange hue.

Conclusion

In summary, the orange color of the moon is primarily due to the scattering of light in the Earth's atmosphere, particularly when the moon is low on the horizon. This effect can be enhanced by seasonal changes and environmental factors, making the orange moon a beautiful and intriguing sight to observe.

Will there ever be another way to break free from earth?

I was thinking of all the fuel needed to power those rockets.

Maybe it's just me but I swear I saw Gary Seven on the gantry in one of those pictures! :shok:

Watching CNN, they were touting Canada's contribution to this launch. Like anyone cares.

Ahh, not necessarily. If they can send deep space color photos from a space telescope (James Webb) some 1.4 million miles from us, imagine what we'll do 5 days from now when the astronauts are orbiting the moon?

Can't wait for those shots.

If it weren't for uhhh... (checks notes) the Nazis and then the US when we took in their scientists, Canada would still be nothing in space.

This is why nobody listens to CNN.
