Most states are just as divided as the country, so to call a state a "Red State" or "Blue State" is to figuratively disenfranchise a plurality of the voters. My own home state of Pennsylvania has 67 counties and 63 (or so) vote like Alabama and two of them like NYC. Are we a Red state or a Blue state?

It is you who are the modern day Confederates in another way. So if the Red states were to secede if possible, they could use the American flag with less stars on it. You can have the Soviet, Chinese, North Korean or any other Communist variation.
