Naturalists and archeologist make more. The girl in question was a ranger. I know you are a teacher. Don't know what you teach but unless you are teaching math or science at a high school level. Archeologist or naturalist is much harder schooling than your typical education curriculum. You likely make similar money and get summer off. They do not. Rangers average salary is 42000. Requires a four year forestry degree. Taco Bell pays 18.50 in my area. 3 dollars an hour is not much extra pay for a four year degree. You also don't start at 42k. Meanwhile park ranger is the cop of the Forrest. Likely more dangerous than working PD. PD ya face dumb ass criminals. Park rangers face poachers. Guys typically very familiar with guns and surviving out doors. You are obviously one of those people that only care about the yourself. I have seen how much you enjoy your fellow Republicans dinging your job. Seen you defend yourself. You didn't like it but have no problem doing it to someone else huh! That's a great way to win friends and influence people. That exact definition of hypocrisy.

Those are park managers. The head dude. That is total compensation. They count living in the park managers home as income. Park manager is not a bad gig. Good pay and you live in the park. The scenery is awesome at many of the parks. My mother was a park manager for a few years till she got her master's in psychology. Then she became a social worker. Worst mistake of her life. That was the most miserable job in the world. No win situation. Certain conditions exist, kids get taken. The social worker has no choice. Then the stats on how kids do in the system is way worse than staying in the home. It is no win situation. She only did it a few years, by then dad was making plenty and she no longer had to work. Where I live is a tourist trap. Expensive. If I were buying today I could not live there. You would have to make well over 100 k to live there today. My stuff is already paid for so I can stay. I am old and only work during the summer. I use to run duck trips till January 3rd. Just to old to be covered in ice all day . I only work fishing season these days.

Closed? That’s strange.
Only a thousand Park Service Employees were laid off out of 20,000.
So, if they are closing all the parks, does that mean the other 19,000 will be laid off?
We have state parks in Texas and you just drive right in. Believe it or not, I’m not at all slow down by the lack of someone to ask “mother may I?”
Anyway, don’t look for the people that are “impacted“ by this. They are not in the article itself, only the headline. Very common with the liberal media.
Of course this is publicly funded liberal media, so they will likely be on the chopping block.
Those jobs don't need to be done. Period.

State parks are not Federal Parks. You cannot "just drive in" to most of state parks here.
To the topic, why are MAGA so gleeful. Public or private, they are just another working stiff that got laid off for no reason related to them.
