Solar Pollution

"The Biden administration has approved a massive solar power project in California that will produce enough power to electrify 90,000 homes. That’s the good news. The bad news is that producing the solar panels in China using coal-fired electrical power plants to generate electricity will produce almost as much CO2 as the fossil fuel plants the solar power is supposed to replace."

I've often heard it takes a lot of coal to make solar panels. Now, this article sheds some light on just how 'dirty' so-called 'clean energy' is.

"Manufacturing solar panels is a dirty business. Starting with the raw mineral quartz, the refining process produces the highly toxic substance, silicon tetrachloride, that some manufacturers simply end up dumping. Huge amounts of power and heat must be used to manufacture the photovoltaic cells."

"Solar power is still far more expensive than power generated by natural gas and oil."
LOL Any more lies to tell us? Solar is now the least expensive way to generate electricity.

"Public land" is a misnomer. If these lands were free for public use they would quickly be 'developed' or destroyed, thus the need for government control of 'public' lands.
LOL Almost all Forest Service and BLM land is free for anyone to roam over, provided they follow some common sense rules. You can hunt on those lands, fish on the rivers on them, hike and mountain climb on them. They belong to us all, and should remain that way forever.

Ivanpah is a failure on many levels.

It destroyed 6 square miles of nature and all the life the land supported in a fragile ecosystem

Ivanpah burns natural gas to make up for its failure as a solar power source.

Ivanpah fries countless birds in midair as they fly through the death ray created.

Ivanpah is an eyesore, heavy industry in pristine wilderness
Ivanpah was an experiment, it demonstrated that it was far more expensive than photovoltaics, and is not the future of solar power.

Great! All that and just to electrify only 1/140th of all the homes in the state-- already overpopulated to the point of eventual failure! Another great accomplishment by America's Most Popular President, Joe Biddensegg Corn Pop.

Of course not. Nuclear reactors are all 100% failsafe, Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, and Fukushima all proved that.
Three Mile Island, zero injuries.

Fukushima, we have 8 of these reactors operating fine.

Chernobyl, a crazy communist liquid metal design with zero safety designs.

The only thing those have in common is they were designed 50 years ago in the last century.

Old Crock, we live in modern times. Old Crock thinks in terms of horse and buggy. Use sun like Egyptians baking brick, use wind like Holland grinding wheat.

Old Crock, Three Mile Island is still operating. Fukushima designed reactors are still operating.

You are a lousy filthy liar.. ivanpah financed by Google, declared a shining example of what solar can do by Obama himself, is not an experiment.

Old Crock, I am going to have fun shoving ivanpah up your stupid ass.

libs believe that the only solution to our energy needs is government subsidized alternative energy

meaning greenies dreaming up projects funded by government capital

that way when the project fails only government takes a bath

If government stopped funding these projects the next generation of Thomas Edisons would have to rely on the billionaire class of private investors who are not so gullible

Produce enough power (on a sunny day).....

Not to mention the lucrative leases for oil, gas, grazing, mining, timber, etc.

We really need to examine how we consume energy more closely. Lots of opportunities for conservation. Also lots of renewable energy sources going to waste; food waste, biomass. The biggest waste involves our wasteful lifestyle.

Already a major area of discussion and research for the past thirty some years. Numerous laws are based on attempts to create a more sustainable lifestyle.

You might want to look into subjects like "sustainable development" where lifestyle is one of the key areas of research and law.

Solar power may be a Moon Bat's wet dream but it is a shitty source of power.

The Moon Bats are morons supporting that crap.

Laws must be enforced in order to do any good. But sometimes the laws are counterproductive. We just got notice that we must build a fence around our dumpster. This will require a smaller dumpster and thus more 'pickups' per month, as well the truck driver will have to spend more time, and fuel, maneuvering his huge truck, opening and closing the gates, etc. And the dumpster isn't an eyesore to begin with. It's nonsense. In fact the dumpsters themselves can be made to look better instead of requiring an expensive 'building' be constructed to hide them.

Dumpsters are the key to saving energy??? WTF?

Seems you are caught up in issues that have very little to do with energy savings or sustainable development but I can appreciate that local ordinances are often focused on esthetics and can be nonsensical. Making a beautiful dumpster however is not a top priority on anyone's list.....except you of course.

you are right, your lifestyle is a waste, you can end it now and save us your carbon footprint

Those little things add up to some really big things. The dumpster ordinance applies to all outdoor dumpsters in my city. Big waste of extra time and fuel for those trucks (those trucks are huge).
