Socialism is a religion, as Jacobin (eesh, what a name!) magazine readily demonstrates:

And wow! Look at how the Angels all have Blond hair.

And so it goes. . . .

Today, the terms Jacobin and Jacobinism are used in a variety of senses. In France, Jacobin now generally indicates a supporter of a centralized republican state and strong central government powers and/or supporters of extensive government intervention to transform society. Jacobin is sometimes used in the Anglosphere as a pejorative for radical, left-wing revolutionary politics. Wikipedia

Of course Wikipedia has to rewrite history and the meaning of words. In RealityLand, we all know what the Jacobins were and what they supported. Their support didn't save Robespierre...and it won't save those who capitulate to the Antifa-Prog Reign of Terror.

Jacobin Magazine doesn't agree with Wikipedia's rewrite:

"Jacobin is a leading voice of the American left, offering socialist perspectives on politics, economics, and culture. The print magazine is released quarterly and reaches 60,000 subscribers, in addition to a web audience of over 3,000,000 a month."

I'm familiar with the magazine Jacobin. There's no disagreement between us. I'm underscoring the observation in the OP. My point is that Jacobins were statist barbarians. The philosophical line of statist thought in the Western canon, as opposed to the Augustinian-Lockean line of classical liberalism (the historic development of natural law) in the same, is political Platonicism to Jacobinism/Hebertism to Marxism.

Wikipedia gets it right. See Influence.

Thank you, but I don't use Wikipedia anymore. I prefer Infogalactic. I see your point about a strong central government - I refute Wiki's use of "Republican" in that definition.
