Once again, Americans were not ready financially to handle this crisis. But then why should they, they've been trained to look to the government to save them, so it's no surprise few have enough money saved to get them through for a few months.

I applaud the first sentence but dude...

I'm about as frugal as you can get. I sank almost all of my savings into a small business that is now shuttered. By most accounts I did everything right and I'm as screwed as anyone else.

I wrote I had no problem with Trump's stimulus. Unlike you, I only wish the best to all Americans citizens regardless of state or party affiliation to be safe and secure.

From what I understand of this stimulus........I won't be getting any funds either since I'm on non-taxable disability.

My 2 youngest sons, who live at home and help to cover expenses that my income don't...…...may not get anything either. Depends on which tax year they go by to determine funds. IF 2018, then neither of them will get anything cause they were both in school. IF 2019, then maybe.

#2 is still working as essential, so his income hasn't really been impacted......so that's ok too

#3 OTOH, had just started working back in Nov and was laid off earlier this month. He won't qualify for unemployment because he didn't meet the 600 hr requirement and could be SOL....unless somewhere they make adjustments for that...…..and even if they don't, we can weather thru this mess as long as it doesn't last too much longer.


#1 and step son, are still working and has been for years, they will probably benefit from this package, even though their income hasn't been effected.

Step daughter has been working for a few years, but was just given notice her job is closing and not sure if temporary or permanent yet. She's a single parent and only income for herself, granddaughter and her mother(my ex's other ex) who lives with them. She will benefit in this and rightly so, but only herself & granddaughter. Her mom won't be included because she hasn't worked for a couple of years. But atleast they will get something and Step daughter will probably get unemployment as well.


The one part that doesn't make sense, unless I misunderstood it...........is how #1 & stepson getting funds when their jobs/income hasn't been impacted??? And depending on what tax year they go by and if they relax unemployment rules, neither of the youngest and especially #3 will get anything. Somehow DC got this upside down.

As I said, I'm not too worried about any of us. Though I do question the distribution of this package considering there are some groups of the population that will fall thru the cracks and not be helped, while others that aren't really impacted will.

FYI having to pay interest on money the ******* government gives the SBA isn't such a great deal for small businesses.

It most certainly is if it replaces high interest short term debt with low interest long term debt.

My business was carrying about $140K in short term debt (a big chunk of which would have been gone by August had this not happened). If I could get $250K in 3,75% 30 year term debt...it would cost only $1200/month...that would work. It would remove the bulk of the short term debt and pay rent,utilities and payroll for at least 4 months.

I've worked with Paul McCartney 3 times. The last time I was chosen over the house photographer. The house photographer wasn't allowed to photograph the show or spend the day with McCartney. Only I was.

Who is your favorite musician or band? There's a very good chance I've worked with them. If you like I can post my list of musicians I've worked with. There's over 500 names on that list and most I've worked with more than once.

How can it be a "conflict of Interest" when it was CONGRESS who formulated and passed the legislation?

It appears Congress took care of that issue, but I assume you're aware the President signs legislation into law. That signature certainly makes him a party to the process.

Well said. And not one of them will turn down the money either. It's no different than other parts of the social safety net the government, through our tax dollars, provides.

Maybe next time people sneer at folks getting health insurance benefits, food stamps, CHIP, housing assistance - they should take a look at the check they're getting from the government.

Which kind of makes me wonder. Should recipients be drug tested?
