So What Qualifies As A Service Dog?

Many of these service animals are nothing more than…..I get stressed if I don’t have my pet with me

Some people who get real stressed out blow stuff up or open fire on people at Walmart.

For I know two autistic people and they never needed a service animal and one of them is severely autistic. .....
:cuckoo: :cuckoo: autistic and a service dog?? really??

I happen to know 2 autistic cases personally - both would be screaming their lugs out and be hiding in the last corner they could find, if they would be confronted with a dog. - not withstanding that some autistic people might indeed find comfort with a pet.

Wow, this is one of the rare times that we actually agree.

If a dog is more helpful to someone with anxiety than a pill, go with the dog.

I still say that's an excuse.

You don't say. Did you see this video too?

Well both the autistic people I know love animals but they don't have fits like that. So I can't say for sure. :dunno:

There is a difference between a Service Dog and an Emotional Support Dog.

Yeah but again where is the line drawn?

Oh and for the record I know the difference between a service animal and an emotional support animal but the people in the article of my OP obviously don't and my title question is rhetorical.

You were practicing Road Runnerism

let’s hear about your training in this area.

Obviously you can't read because the definitions were posted in this thread. A service animal provides a service duh! Besides being your lunch or dinner a chicken serves no purpose. buttercup is going to throttle me for that, but I'm trying to make a point here.

Yes as I had stated: PETS, and not a trained and as such a "commandeering" dog.
Because autistic people in general - refuse/react irrational and in majority violently towards what they perceive to be authoritarian.

You sure, you know autistic people?

This service animal thing is just looking for an excuse to take your pet with you on outings. I'm not saying that's what's happening here but in my experience autistic people don't need service animals.

Too many dumbass rednecks abused the system.

Hey, hey, hey - that chicken of mine that shares my bed and house provides the utmost important service, of a fresh breakfast egg. :D

.

The certification for emotional support animals still seems kind of hinky.

.
Everybody needs emotional support. Some more than others. If an animal fills a void in your life because you have problems connecting with people for whatever reason then so be it. I know of one old guy who really has nobody. Just his dog. I think if something were to happen to that dog he would just die.

Huh. mine manage to do that from the chicken coop.

Some people go overboard

I saw an older gentleman pushing a baby carriage at the mall

But I was surprised to see it was a dog instead of an infant

That seemed a little weird to me
