autistic and a service dog?? really??

I happen to know 2 autistic cases personally - both would be screaming their lugs out and be hiding in the last corner they could find, if they would be confronted with a dog. - not withstanding that some autistic people might indeed find comfort with a pet.

They used to be called Seeing-Eye Dogs, and were only for the blind who really needed them

Now a better term might be Companion Dogs for lonely people

Everybody needs emotional support. Some more than others. If an animal fills a void in your life because you have problems connecting with people for whatever reason then so be it. I know of one old guy who really has nobody. Just his dog. I think if something were to happen to that dog he would just die.
