So what exactly are Schumer's Demands to Avert a Shutdown?

How is pulling the rug out from people who rely on federal funding for their benefits, while giving Trump complete power over spending, including how many and who to fire, standing up to Trump?
Congress is giving Trump nothing, he is taking power from Congress and the GOP is saying nothing. Is this really a precedent that anyone wants? If you do, don't complain when the next Dem administration does whatever it wants, legal or not.

Nothing has changed at all. Trump is doing nothing that hasn't been done right along by every administration....yes the next Dem President will also do it....do what?

Does any Democrat or "not Democrat" on here know what they really want?

Hakeem Jefferies says it's because they want more spending on health care, but it already passed Congress, so why are they even asking him.

Schumer won't even say that much. Apparently, he's just mad that Trump cancelled a meeting and now will defund the country if he doesn't get a meeting.

It seems that they are very confident that the media will blame the Republicans, even if every Republican in the Senate votes for the CR, and Donald Trump is standing by to sign it.

They may be right about the media, but do they really expect the American people to be that gullible?

Not to cut the aid that keeps a bunch of people alive.

It really is just that simple.

That's a straight up lie.

Not true at all. One example is telling DoJ who to investigate and indict. He has crossed lines put in by Congress after Nixon. The charges against Comey are laughable and will be thrown out but Comey may be bankrupted before that happens. Even his children have been targeted. Who will have the courage to take on a tyrant, GOP or Dem, if that can happen to them and their family.

Like I said nothing has changed ..... Nothing is different.... Nothing will change. In fact Biden was actually much worse ... Obama? Worse still.
Bush was no angel either.... He was into mass indictments.

So, are you saying what is happening to Comey is the same thing that happened to people like General Flynn?

They already did.

And that’s one of the many reasons we don’t want them to reclaim Office.

There has always been (inherent in our system of government) a tendency for one of the branches to seek to exert its own power and authority.

There is nothing wrong with President Trump trying to flex the authority and powers of the Executive Branch to compensate for the seeming inability of Congress to do its job.

We have had a long run of irresponsible government (and, yes, this does include both Parties). It’s about damn time we had a President actually trying to right the ship of state.

All that said, our President is still in compliance with the Constitution.

What has been Congress' complaint about the cuts Trump is making through DOGE? That Trump is refusing to spend money that they authorized. But that authorization only goes until September 30, literally tomorrow. After that, Trump would not be authorized to spend a dime, except under emergency powers as the executive.

So it will be up to him what is an emergency expendature and what is not. If he decides it is not an emergency to keep certain people on the payroll, he can legally fire them. He has no obligation to lay them off with a promise that they will come back and get back pay.

That's the power Schumer is proposing to give to Trump. Last time, he came to his senses for exactly that reason.

Exactly the same, except everything was different. Flynn was investigated while Trump was president and plead guilty to lying to the FBI. Trump pardoned him.

Republicans are in control of the Senate, the House and the Executive branch. Why the hell do they need Democrats? If Republicans can’t pass a budget, that failure is on them not Democrats.
Please us you are not this ignorant.

Trump is threatening to lay off gov't workers if there is no deal. If they should be fired, why did he wait until now to say so? Essentially he is taking innocent people hostage, just as any good terrorist would do. These are people with families, something he obviously cares nothing about.

Schumer wants to continue to fund the slush fund democrats use to bribe and pay off their supporters through wasteful government programs now cut by Trump.

We dont know how Comey will plead.

There's no question that he lied about leaking. His defense will likely be that it wasn't really a leak because what he leaked was not classified.

We dont know whether Patel's FBI will threaten Comey's family with investigation to force Comey to plead guilty, as Comey's FBI did to Flynn.

Trump and his DOJ/FBI have not been nearly as ruthless as the weaponizeD Rogue DOJ/FBI was to him. I wish they would kick it up a notch.
