Because we all know that lower drug prices is somehow bad for the nation. Can't figure out exactly why though. I suppose those who have their 401k's tied up in the Drug company stocks might have a squawk here. Is this a form of price control? Will the Drug companies simply shut down production and plow their pharmaceuticals back into the ground? Remember now we all jumped on Harris for her attempt to target the grocers.
The reasoning was that the shelves would go empty. Will this happen with drugs as well?

Hilarious

When Kamala Harris spoke on the issue, bet you screamed price control Marxism.

I agree with Trump that the US should enjoy favored nation status on drug prices

Trump won't be assassinated from the left it will be the right that takes him out if he goes after the pharmaceutical companies. They're already screaming like somebody ripped one of their gonads out and stomped on it.

Yes, it sure as hell is. I'm pretty sure it's unconstitutional, but I have not yet seen how Trump can do this legally. What existing law can he use as a basis? You wanna talk about gov't intervention? This is it.

No doubt some federal judge somewhere will put a stay on Trump's EO, but let's say for the sake of argument that he can do it. What will the drug companies do? Well - first, they'll spend a lot less money of R&D, and if they don't see enough profitability for certain developmental drugs then they won't get developed, tested, and approved. They'll stop producing drugs or limit their production if they don't have enough profit margin. It's a business decision, there's no way the gov't can force a company to continue production on something without a subsidy. It is a common reality of economics: when you slap price controls on something you get less of it.

Fear mongering we have heard for decades

Pharmaceuticals are a global product. No reason for the US to foot the bill for R&D and pay the highest prices in the world.

Equalize the price globally.
US health insurance prices will drop

The presidents of the last forty years promised lower drug prices and the drug prices kept on going up.

Because far more power rests in the mahogany board rooms of Chicago, Boton and New York then in the grifter clad hallways of DC.
