Red state voters are gonna feel this one

How are they holding the country hostage? Please explain.
I know, I know, I know...

Because the democrats want the Republican majority to undo the spending cuts in the BBB and add back the stupid wasteful spending that the last democrat budget had....or they won't vote for the "clean CR" to fund the government.

Thune needs to go nuclear just for Appropriation Bill votes and CRs to keep the government working as the budget is passed.

Republican voters typically don't care if their voting choices wind up screwing over others,

Same with democrats.

as long as it isn't themselves who have to feel the sting.

Same with democrats.

For instance they'll vote for someone who tells them he's going to impose tariffs on our biggest trading partners not even realizing that those tariffs wind up being nothing more than extra taxes on consumers like themselves. Then when the results of those tariffs wind up coming home to roost and destroying the economies in their rural farming communities they react with shock.

I agree, the tariffs might not have been a good idea, in hindsight.

They cannot see that they actually voted to make their own lives worse, not better.

Thr idea at the outset was to try for fair trade, but when your entire economy is based around imports, the rest of the world has the upper hand.

Likewise they'll vote for the very people who actually admit to them AHEAD OF TIME that they're all about reducing these voter's access to affordable healthcare...and they'll STILL vote Republican...probably because they don't believe it's actually THEIR affordable healthcare these Republican politicians are promising to cut, but that of the "others" less deserving than them.

No, first, we dont believe federal government should be managing Healthcare, and we also dont like that, with the 20+ million illegals living here, the taxpayer shouldn't be on thr hook for funding their lives, including Healthcare.

And it is the same with welfare. Poor, white Republican voters historically vote overwhelmingly for the very people who again TELL THEM AHEAD OF TIME how they want to take food out of their mouths by reducing the very public assistance programs these voters depend on because again, being Republican they have a built in sense of entitlement that makes it incompresensible to them that their own welfare dependence is what these Republican politicians they vote into office are targeting. They think the targets are inner city (mostly minority) Democrat voters.

Im not aware that republicans are voting to cut welfare for those who truly need it and cant provide for themselves.

And so here we are.
Republicans are keeping government shut down because Democrats won't let them take away affordable healthcare from the people who ignorantly voted against their own best interest

No, democrats are keeping the government shut down because they wont pass a clean CR. Their desire to force Healthcare for illegals into the bill is keeping american citizens from being able to earn a living.

. This shutdown is draggng on even longer than the second longest government shutdown which occurred during Donald Trump's first term. It is dragging on so long that millions and millions of red state Trump voters may have to go hungry for Thanksgiving next month.

Thanks dems.
Thank you.
This would be a great time for those Republican voters to finally have that long overdue come to Jesus moment about the crazy, self-destructive crap they actually vote for.
Will finally seeing how their own votes are responsible for their own empty stomachs move the needle on their stubbornness this time?
I guess we'll soon see huh?

Dems votes no on the clean CRCR, now they are obstructing trumps efforts to keep our military paid.

Republican voters typically don't care if their voting choices wind up screwing over others, as long as it isn't themselves who have to feel the sting. There seems to be quite a disconnect for this voting block between the policies they vote for and any real, down to earth realization about how those policies can personally disrupt their own lives.

But what’s unfolding now is more dangerous. Inflation has already thinned grocery budgets, pandemic emergency allotments have expired, and food banks are still recovering from years of record demand. This time, the margin for survival is smaller, and the cruelty more deliberate.

What also makes this crisis different isn’t just the scale of potential hunger, it’s who will feel it. As always, Black, Brown, Indigenous, and disabled communities will be hit first and hardest because poverty in America is still structured by race and ableism. These are the families already juggling inflated grocery prices, wage gaps, and greedy landlords raising rents. They’ve weathered generations of disinvestment, redlining, and political neglect. But what makes this moment distinct is that millions of white, working-class households, many in deep-red counties, are now standing on the same cliff, about to feel the same hunger they once believed was somebody else’s problem.

If the government allows SNAP benefits to run out, the consequences will reach far beyond grocery store shelves. The collapse of the white self-sufficiency myth will hit hardest among many MAGA voters who are older, working-class white Americans in counties that depend heavily on federal aid programs like SNAP, Social Security, Medicare, disability, and farm subsidies. In fact, some of the highest SNAP participation rates in the country are in overwhelmingly white, Republican counties across Appalachia, the Deep South, and the Midwest.

On the ground, food insecurity would spike across MAGA country. Economists estimate that every dollar in SNAP spending generates more than a dollar and a half in local economic activity. Pull that thread, and small-town economies unravel fast. Dollar stores and small-town groceries, which rely heavily on SNAP transactions, would lose revenue and shut down. Food banks, already stretched thin, would be overwhelmed.

Poor white families who’ve long relied on the program to feed their kids would face the kind of economic desperation they’ve been taught to associate only with non-white “urban” poverty. That shock would destabilize communities already hollowed out by addiction, unemployment, disinvestment, rampant drug abuse, and climbing suicide rates.

The irony is that these same regions consistently elect politicians who rail against “welfare” and campaign on cutting “entitlements.” These are the very people who’ve benefited most from the cruelty they endorsed. If they lose their SNAP benefits, the fallout will be dramatic and expose the contradictions at the heart of their movement.

Why have food banks had record demand for years?

Thanks for posting how much Biden sucked.

So they're just like you. Two sides of the same coin.

Republicans are keeping government shut down because Democrats won't let them take away affordable healthcare from the people who ignorantly voted against their own best interest.

If the health care is affordable, why does it need to be subsidized? Furthermore, why did your party in 2021 put a sunset provision in these subsidies in the first place when you controlled all three branches of government?

Republicans have done their part in voting on the CR, it's the democrats
that are holding up the train. :eusa_whistle:

Waste, fraud and abuse? I'm all for getting rid of that.
The OP is correct, it’s the stupidity of voting for Trump – the stupidity of being a blind partisan Republican, the stupidity of not believing Trump will do what he says he’ll do, and the stupidity of voting for Trump motivated by ignorance and fear.

And it’s not just Trump – it’s the stupidity of voting for Republicans as well.

Just the typical canned answer from a communist.
America isn't ready for your socialist/communist government, comrade. :eusa_whistle:

It's always amusing to me to see people like you believe you're actually different than the people you criticize.

MagicMike So you agree you bear responsibility. Glad we cleared that up. Have a nice day, drone.

You have a sentence John birch and Jim Crow. I am willing to bet if the Republican Party fails its voters, at some point you will see something in that direction from voters. And they would then be what your party is. Just like you are. Imagine the Congress being endless four-letter words and even fisticuffs. All elected people will be on the stage screaming from their lungs.

Now who is it...I just read a article that said the DEMs ae keeping the shutdown in place.

Is there a stupid rant bs forum.

This post belongs there......fast.

Well you see it is, in 3M (Moron MagicMike) eyes. Because republicans won't fund the bloated healthcare portion of the democrats wet dream, the democrats will keep things shut down. So by extension (and some LSD), it's the GOP's fault.

Love to have it shutdown for two years.

Starving leftwingers......sounds good to me.

I look forward to Republicans feeling the pain of their bad and evil choices.
Interesting that you look forward to people suffering.

I guess that defines you pretty well.

Republicans and everyone else have been feeling the pain (and will continue to do so) of bad and evil choices made my democratic administrations for decades.

LBJ blew a huge hole in SS by giving a bunch of it away to the rich just to lower the trust fund.

Not the poor....the rich.

That's been on our backs ever since.

Let me know if you need more.
