Rush and Maher both use humor to make political points.

How many times has Maher been called the voice of liberals by Democrats in Congress?

How many times does he get invited to speek at Democratic events?

The Right Wing talking machine was given a golden opportunity by Rush.

They could have cringed at Rush's crudeness and chastised him for it. They could have used this tempest in a uterus to set the bar for public comportment and language. They could have taken the high road after Rush drove the car into the ditch.

But they didn't. Like the Palestinians, the American Conservative never misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity.

Rather than take control of this misstep, the modern American Conservative decided to equivocate. Rush can be compared to respected pundits when the Conservatives agree with him. Or they compare him to Ronald McDonald when they don't. But they always excuse him of any transgression. No sin is too great to abandon Rush.

What does get abandoned by the Right Wing are chances to be the adult in the room.
