Every airport in the world is designed for English speakers. Your journey will be easy and seamless.I plan on flying to Portugal later this year.
Anybody want to share some advice for traveling abroad?
What about airlines? The cheapest is with american airlines.
I have flown american and southwest domestically and didnt have any problems. But those were much shorter trips.
Whatever you say, newbie
Last thing....
You will have to run through known tourist locations.
Check with your cell phone company to see if you need a chip for your phone. Or buy a disposable while there.
AND
Put credit cards in a RFID proof pouch. Just because American credit card terminals have issues reading your touch less payment card by no means means that crooks won't skim your touch less chip in your cards by just walking in your vicinity.
And a photocopy of your passport can be stashed somewhere (luggage or elsewhere) in case of pickpockets.
It can save you miles of frustration if you get in an already frustrating situation.
One last thing....
Depending on your finances.
How long the flight is....on the way home upgrade your seat to first or ultra class seats (unfold into a bed).
Usually at the end of a vacation you are tired from the non-stop trying to shove in as much as possible into your itinerary. And you are tired of people shoved in next to you....as in public transportation and everywhere you seem to find yourself.
Those extra sized seats for the LONG ride home....priceless. (if available) get three fingers of booze, earplugs, eye covers and then snooze for 11 hours. (Flights to the US from Europe face headwinds and usually get delayed by 20 minutes....after ALL your patience has been exhausted)
Then it will take a few days to get over the jet lag. Going it's easier than coming back.
(At least for me....but I cannot sleep on airplanes....ever....so I just saved the money and watched movies and waited for my bed and my pillow)

I dont think i could sleep on a plane either. lolLast thing....

Yes, they are getting hammered!Check your long range weather outlook .
At the moment it is under water and by the end of this week could have partly disappeared .
Now , the Rain in Spain falls mainly on Portugal .
Spain is being run by a bunch of lunatics presently -- similar to Dumbocrats in the US and is also heading full tilt toward Bankruptcy .Yes, they are getting hammered!
But I wont be going for a while.
