C'mon ladies, who are your choices?
I have what may be a very unusual list.
Shane Minor-He started as a country singer in 1999 which is when I discovered him. These days, he is a full-time songwriter.
Thad Luckinbill-He is an actor who gave us J.T. Hellstrom from The Young and the Restless. In late 2002, he started singing on the show. I was hooked from the very first song that he did which was "When You Say Nothing At All" from the late great Keith Whitley.
James Otto-Even though he has had songs before and after, sadly, he is known as the one hit wonder of the #1 country song in 2008 named "Just Got Started Lovin' You" which is the song that started it all for me.
Uriah Shelton-I discovered him in 2014 when I saw a movie that he did in 2010 named Lifted. He sang several songs in it and even after his voice matured, he released three more songs that never should've been swept under the rug in my opinion.
Billy Joe Royal-I didn't officially discover him until his passing on October 6, 2015. I have just about every song that was released by him. What a great smile and a great voice he had.
Steve Sanders of the Oak Ridge Boys-I didn't officially discover him until the spring of 2017. His suicide took place on June 10, 1998. Just before I turned nine years old in 1991, I saw the group do a show at the Cincinnati Zoo and Steve was a group member then, but sadly the only memory that I have of the show is Joe Bonsall saying that his favorite animal to see at any zoo are the cats. His passing was on July 9, 2024. Steve is forever the member that I miss the most.
Northern Calloway-He is the African American male who gave us David from the Sesame Street show. I was seven years old when his passing took place in early 1990. I didn't officially discover him until early 2022 when it was announced that another person from the show had passed on, the man who gave us Luis that is. I love Northern's smile and to me, not enough of his singing is out there, but what can be found of it in my opinion couldn't be better. "Daydreamin' On A Rainy Day" is the name of his album, and he wrote eight of the twelve songs. It is considered a Sesame Street album under his character name instead of his real name, but still. His voice and his songwriting, to me, never should've been swept up underneath the rug.
Ashley Clark-His start was in 2000 with five of his brothers under the name the Clark Family Experience. The fiddle is what he played, and he eventually did some solo singing in 2015 that I didn't discover until early 2023. I love watching the few clips of him that are out there which sadly may be all that will ever exist where his solo singing is concerned. A solo album was never released.
Mason Ramsey-My first taste of him was on July 5, 2023 after hearing his newly released song at the time named "Reasons To Come Home" which he had a hand in writing. A month later, another song from him named "She Got It Outta Me" was released and I have not been the same since. His 20th birthday is this year on November 16th.
John Foster-He was last year's American Idol runner up. I didn't discover him until May 12th when he sang "The Rainbow Connection" on the show. His American Idol fate was decided on May 18th and even though he wasn't the winner, I've kept up with him. On April 9th, his 14th Grand Ole Opry appearance is scheduled to happen with another one taking place on April 25th as well. His 20th birthday is this year on July 9th.
God bless you and my favorites who are still here always!!!
