The F-35 was intended as a light attack aircraft when in stealth configuration, a heavy attack aircraft after aerial supremacy was achieved carrying external ordnance and a second line stealthy fighter to back up the F-22.
Which version? Once again, 3 different aircraft with 3 different roles.
You are talking about the A. There is also the B and C, the first is primarily for a limited CAP and mostly for ground support. The C is mostly for CAP.
Three different aircraft, three different configurations, three different missions.
And why compare the B or C to the F-22? Is that suddenly able to work off of carriers or amphibious warfare ships?
