Which version? Once again, 3 different aircraft with 3 different roles.

You are talking about the A. There is also the B and C, the first is primarily for a limited CAP and mostly for ground support. The C is mostly for CAP.

Three different aircraft, three different configurations, three different missions.

And why compare the B or C to the F-22? Is that suddenly able to work off of carriers or amphibious warfare ships?

No, the F-117 should have correctly been called the A-117. It was an attack aircraft, it was never intended as a bomber. Just as the A-10 is an attack aircraft and not a bomber.

The "F" was part of the name not only to make it "sexier", but as disinformation before and shortly after it was announced to the public. That kept the Soviets and others guessing what the actual capability of the aircraft was.
