And, since most areas of this nation have been occupied by people keeping records for at least 200 years, we have pretty good records for that period.How do we know they're not "natural"? The problem is 200 years is a pretty small time frame for climate. We're in a 100,000 year cycle with ice ages followed by a huge spike in temperatures for a short period of time.
But we don't even know if we're still in this 100,000 year cycle or not, the cycle has only lasted about 400,000 years, maybe it's over. Maybe it's not.
