Democrat governors oppose federalizing the NG in their states.
Why fight democrat governors when Republican governors are happy to help, especially when crime rates are high all over?
IMHO Trump should demonstrate how well Republicans can work together to reduce crime before 'invading" uncooperative democrat states.

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker told CBS News the Trump administration has not communicated with his state on a reported plan to send military forces to Chicago, calling the idea an "invasion" and arguing President Trump has "other aims" aside from cracking down on crime.
Asked about a possible military deployment to America's third-largest city, which was recently reported by The Washington Post, Pritzker told CBS News: "It's clear that, in secret, they're planning this — well, it's an invasion with U.S. troops, if they, in fact, do that."
Mr. Trump has deployed National Guard forces and federal agents to the streets of two other major cities — Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. — in recent months, part of what the president casts as a crackdown against illegal immigration, violent crime and civil unrest.

The Democratic governor has amplified his complaints on X, where he has drawn a comparison between California's homicide rate and those of Indiana, Florida, West Virginia, Virginia, Texas, Ohio, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Nevada, South Carolina, Alaska, Georgia, Missouri, Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi. All of those states have Republican governors who have largely fallen in line with what Trump does and says.
I don't know. I think Trump is trying to shove it in their faces and it's working pretty damned good. Chicago just had yet another horrible weekend and yet they passed laws forbidding the police from working with the National Guard. 81% of Americans say crime is a major problem and Trump's got 'em all defending the criminals. Great sound bites for the upcoming midterms.

Thanks for the utter horseshit...

Cities in Red States have generally the highest crime... We get that in your head all problems in the world must be a Democrat fault...

But lets be clear, MAGA didn't send troops into Red States even though they have higher crime...

MAGA told lies about the levels of crime and the trajectory of crime lowering over the last two decades... This is not the solution, it is very expensive and unsustainable, it will not lower crime in the long term, it is optics without substance...

What they could do if they really want to help lower crime, increase funding into Police Training, pay and increase numbers... Training of the Police is shockingly poor in US compared to other first world...

Examples of police training duration by country:
  • United States: Approximately 833 hours on average, with specific state requirements varying from 360 hours in Louisiana to over 900 hours in North Carolina.
  • Ireland: The Garda College offers a two year and eight month Foundation Training Programme.
  • Japan: 12 months for high school graduates and 6 months for college graduates.
  • Finland: Requires 4,500 hours of training, similar to Norway and Indonesia.
  • Norway: Three years of training, including on-the-job experience after the second year.
  • Indonesia: Requires 4,500 hours of training.
  • Germany: Requires 4,000 hours of training.
  • United Kingdom: Requires 2,250 hours of training
In UK and Ireland they won't get a gun or high speed pursuit training with that.. US cops seem to be one per car a lot, in those other countries it is nearly always pairs...

This is the major difference between US cops and ROW (1st World) cops... EU citizens wouldn't have police force that don't know the rights of the citizens, understand de-escalation techniques, mental illness awareness....

So the Irish system is that they accepted and then sent to get a BA (Bachelors of Arts) in Applied Policing and Criminal Justice which takes two years in university studying:

That is just first year...

The course itself can be done by anyone including foreign students. Fees are €3.400($4,000) for Foreign Student. I say the law bits cover Irish law.

This is the type of standard is expected from public servants... There is no thin blue line crap, you are professional like everyone else and are expected to meet those professional standards... Every one in your profession has standards to keep and are expected to maintain them, failure to do so reflects on all the members in the profession.
Cities in red states are blue.

Actually conservatives are often the problem, by constantly driving to lower taxes, and thus take away the money to finance the resources needed to reduce crime.
Cutting funds for education, social programs, healthcare, mental health, etc.
LOL. You guys wanted to defund the police!

But Red States have the worse Urban Crime... You are ******* useless at addressing Urban Crime.... Urban Crime has been dropping generally for the last 20 years, mainly because they are getting rid for idiotic GOP crime policy...

Look at Europe, way lower crime because they shun GOP crime policy which looks good, sells easier to voters... Proper modern day policing is complicated especially in urban settings... Regular Police in Europe are now hiring candidates with a Policing degree...

IT is totally unacceptable in Europe to kill your Citizens at the rate US kills their own Citizens... US Police kill US Citizens at 99 times the rate UK Police do... The kill them 21 times when US Citizen is unarmed (it is actually higher but UK kill so little they don't have armed and unarmed statistics)...

I think it has been made crystal clear to MAGA. They don't want soliders in in cities... Nobody serious is asking for that kind of help because it is detrimental... We have US soliders going around US Cities asking US Citizens to see their papers...

BTW, look at this poster...

If you swap Russian & Stalin for Xi and China, EU for the British, Greenland for Pacific... I say we are getting pretty close..
Red states have the worst urban crime because urban areas are blue. What a dumb ****.

How about taking politics out of keeping Americans safe. If any city wants help and they have a real crime problem, then help them. If a city says thanks but no thanks, respect that.

I'm not in favor of using the NG for police work in the US. If Trump wants to help offer money to city police departments for specific programs. That is a long-term solution, not a political, headline-grabbing one.
Trump is president for all America, red and blue, and he wants ALL Americans to have less crime.

Blue cities r the problem no contest

Yes! 100% (you must have seen the responses ive made to various threads..)

Absolutely focus on crime in red states! Dems don't want help in blue states so, let them fend for themselves and let's get these extra resources into red cities to help them lower their crime rates and make those cities even safer, thus increasing tourism, and bringing in more money and prosperity.
I don't know. Trump has great instincts. 2026 is coming up and he's got democrats defending their high crime cities. With 81% of Americans saying crime is a major problem, he's got democrats actually attacking him for fighting high crime.

Almost all Red State high crime is in their Blue Cities, such as Indianapolis, Indiana.

He should be focusing on ways the regime can help lower the crime rate nationally, in all states, not illegally sending in the military. Which is a stopgap measure, not a long term solution.

Ahh the leveraging of ignorance..

Sasy doesn't give two ***** about what works, she is too busy trying to blame Democrats...
Sassy will continue with high profile tough on crime theatrics which has seen US put more of their citizens in prison while having higher crime rates than EU...

Real crime fighting isn't arriving up in a anti-landmine vehicle and having a swat team storm a building. In many cases it about sending your younger police to college to learn about Criminology and the law, know not only there own rights but the Citizens they deal with...
What's working is Trump attacking high crime in DC. Even DC's mayor gives Trump credit for greatly reduced crime. But then she devolves into some nonsense about how residents are living in fear with national guard all over the place, like residents didn't live in fear with their high crime before Trump.

Are the streets safer or have they just been abandoned?

By several key indicators — marketing forecasts, street-level foot traffic, hotel occupancy — Washington’s tourism economy is sliding. Analysts cite the city’s battered image and mounting fears about security as key drivers. The sight of National Guard troops, now authorized to carry weapons, could further chill demand at a time when the industry can least afford it.
After the doldrums of the pandemic, Washington tourism was looking brighter. In 2024, the city welcomed 27.2 million people, 2.1 million more than in 2019, according to Destination DC, the city’s marketing organization. This year, the businesses that depend on visitor spending hit one obstacle after another: widespread federal layoffs, lower attendance than expected at WorldPride and, most recently, Trump’s characterization of the District as a city riddled with crime and gangs.
The week federal forces dispersed across the capital, foot traffic in D.C. dropped 7 percent on average, according to Pass_by, which creates estimates by pooling anonymized data from sources such as mobile devices, sensors, cameras and purchases. Restaurant reservations saw an even steeper drop.
Yes, the streets have been abandoned by the criminals.

Except that democrats everywhere are fine with the crime they have and won't do anything about it.

The idiot MAGA herd thinks it's ok to send the military to cities like Chicago because:

Trump says so

They bleeeeeeve they're "owning the libs".

Whatever Trump does, including ******* them over is aok with them.

End of story.

The current issue to be addressed in DC is crime not tourism. In 2025 tourism is down 5%, but they are planning to recover that next year. Foot traffic will also recover as car-jackings and other crimes are reduced. Troops on the street don't scare people, they scare criminals.

The point of this thread is showing that many high crime cities are in red states.
Trump and Republican governors should focus on Memphis, Houston, Nashville, and Indianapolis, etc.

True. I'm giving credit to Trump for getting criminals and guns off the streets of DC.
Why fight blue state governors? Club them like baby seals for protecting criminals in 2026 and 2028.
Clean up blue cities in red states first to demonstrate how crime can be reduced, this is a game changer in law enforcement.
