It all depends on the attitude of the media and the media always protects democrats. If American Troops (under a republican administration) ever treated an Afghan or Iraq or even a Vietnamese village with tanks and poison gas there would be outrage in the media. The initial search warrant on the Branch Dividians was so faulty that it was never mentioned again. Bubba Bill hid away for a couple of days after the debacle and let big dumb Janet Reno "take responsibility" and when there was little outrage in the media Bill also "took responsibility" but in the long run neither one actually took responsibility.
