what we do is pretty stupid. Its counter productive. Those who commit a jailable offense should be in jail and the rest should be out of a job. Then there is no reason to return.

If the crime is say stealing a car then deport.....Hurt a US citizen physically then deport after their time is served.

Judges used to take care of that problem on their own.....Sentence to hold then call ICE for deportation.....Of course that's back when judges were sane.

I would also look to anyone knowingly hiring illegals and make them cough up the costs of a US wage, apprehension, deportation and a fine calculated on the income generated by that worker in their time of employment!! Add on a steep fine for shits and gigs and jail time and presto; no more demoKKKrat "elites" would be allowed to vote!!
