Should Elon Musk Audit Social Security?

You are a full of shit asshole, no apology needed for your bullshit, carry on Mr stolen valor
My service exists, unlike your delusions of grandeur! My son served in Afghanistan and my daughter in Iraq. They do not deserve the disrespect you laid upon them with your comments.

You probably served at the DFAC.

Keep your children out of these threads, family is pretty much off limits so I feel like you are baiting me to say something derogatory which in your case will e pretty factual.

You have said some pretty stupid stuff about what you think it is like in the military so I know you are Mr stolen valor, now go sit on a fence post

What type of SS are they receiving? SSI? SS? SSDI?
How do you justify taking their social security insurance payments? They already paid their premiums.
For clarification, they were on SSDI. Furthermore, if I’m not mistaken, I believe they had to report to the government what they spent their money on. Were they reporting drugs, alcohol and heroin? If not, they were committing fraud and abusing the system, see?

Look, I’m all for helping out folks who are disabled. But, being an alcoholic or drug user should be an automatic disqualification. It’s the taxpayers who suffer, to boot.

In the case of illegal immigrants, drug addicts/alcoholics, people faking disability who don’t want to work, or other cases of fraud/wasteful spending, I say to Elon “Go for it!”

I have actually met folks on heroin and other drugs, who are on social security. The outrage in favor of cutting SS is justified, in those cases.

We will see what happens. Right now, nothing has been done on a large scale. That may soon change.

Thoughts?

Instead of auditing it, how about coming up with a system that stops people getting it when they shouldn't, and is effective.

They don't have to report what they spend their money on. Furthermore, it's neither fraud nor abuse, and it is none of your god damned fuckin' business what anyone spends their SSDI check on.

STFU you trolling heifer! GOODBYE!

Both of the individuals I was referring to had representative payees (a managing representative), so yes, one does need to report a detailed spending statement to the SSA (through the representative payee) when on SSDI.

Generally speaking, though, you are correct.

I just don’t see how they can find out where the problem is without auditing it. I basically agree with the rest of your statement.

"probably served at the DFAC" :auiqs.jpg: Nice one Rock, but civilians won't get it.

I'm sure people know what the problem is. I'm sure if you utilize people properly, ask the right questions, understand the issues, then you'd figure out how to change things.

I doubt the "audit" is designed to make things better. I'm assuming it'd just be used as a political weapon.

An audit is a tool. It's impossible to make good managerial decisions if you don't have a clue where the money is going! We should have been auditing every single Federal Agency every single year and that has ZERO to do with politics!

The point I'm making is that someone could have a clear idea of where they want social security to go.

Where it goes now doesn't necessarily matter if you've decided that only this person and that person should get it. Working people shouldn't get federal money, but they do. Walmart bribed the government to make this happen. It doesn't take an audit to know this is happening.

How do you have a clear idea of where you want Social Security money to go when you have ZERO idea of where it's actually going? I'm baffled by the Left's stand that audits are somehow a bad thing.

I didn't say an audit was bad, if it's done properly and done for the right reasons.

The problem is Trump doesn't seem to want to do it for the right reasons. He wants to save money so the rich can get richer.

People don't trust Trump, that's the problem.

I'm certainly not in favor of waste, fraud, or abuse but I don't trust Musk. He is trying to cut programs he doesn't like on ideological grounds, not fraud. As for junkies, are you really jealous of them? I see them as pathetic and sick in need of help.

Republicans want to cut it so bad. Well, the dog should only catch the mail man when it comes to them! ;)
/—-/ I’m a Republican on SS, and I want to cut the WASTE, FRAUD, and ABUSE so the fund doesn’t run out of money. Part of my check goes into my portfolio and used for stock option to increase my payments.

How did you arrive at that conclusion? That money that's being saved belongs to the American people not "the rich"! The waste and corruption that's being exposed doesn't help rich people as much as it does average people.

My question for you is if you don't think audits are "bad" then why haven't they been done by Congress or previous Administrations? The Left criticizes how these audits are being done...yet have shown ZERO willingness to do them themselves!
