Should Al Jolson's family apologize for the original Black Face entertainer?

Since 100 year old statues are being destroyed for their Racist ties, shouldn't the original Black Face entertainer Al Jolson be vilified? Shouldn't his family issue and apology? Why or why not?

NO, his family should not apologize. That was then. This is now.

If I am not mistaken, his films are already banned from TV. I agree with that. There is no sense in humiliating a particular ethnicity in 2020.
