Commentary:
Now Senator John Kennedy has a point. Why pay Congress if no one else is getting paid.
Sen. Rand Paul has his Libertarian head up his ass...
Remember these are the people that get for serving in Congress special forever healthcare and forever special pensions.
That needs to end NOW.
They've become the privileged Class.
It's immoral that Congress, especially in this case the Democrats, are getting paid to hold the country hostage to their demands. This is not a game.
Their arrogance and disorder is outrageous in the Senate especially from Democrats
I know guys who are working to keep their jobs not getting paid, floating bills, not sure if they’ll be getting retroactively
Maybe Trump can find a legal way to stop the Senators paychecks until the come to an agreement?

One rule for them, one rule for everyone else.

Want to change this?

Then change to Proportional Representation. It'll mean the voters get some control over Congress.

I find this very strange as well. Paul is one of the few who call out the corruption in DC. Of course, there are always two sides to a story, now we have to listen to Paul's side.

I listened to the entire 9:51. Paul never said those quoted words. Paul never said. "I don't want to pay less people. I want to pay more."

Paul said he wants to pay people for showing up to work. I listened to it and recorded the words. Paul said, “I offer legislation…that pays everyone who shows up for work.”

Paul further asserted that he is the most conservative member of the senate. I agree. He said, “I vote to cut spending on everything. I think we spend way too much"

At least they are willing to work across the aisle.

Don't agree with them all the time, but there is hope.

Manchin was similar.

AK Murkowski.......she wants to support the (D), but she knows she will lose if she does.
Collins......Dementia like Trump. Oh, so true.

I'm getting tired of Paul's showboating (playing like he is the only person who realizes what is going on). He's a tedious little ***** who is definitely not an America first team player. He acts like he's the only person in America who understands that our debt is too high. I'm really sick of his bullshit. Looking back, his neighbor was probably justified when he jacked up that little BMB (big mouthed *****)

United States Constitution
Amendment the 27th
"No law, varying the compensation for the services of the Senators and
Representatives, shall take effect, until an election of Representatives shall
have intervened."

Phylisophically and and morally I agree. Congress should not be paid during a shut down, neithers should the President - who also gets paid. But that is not allowed under the Constitution.

I also believe that Congress should stay in mandated session any time there is an appropriations lapse AND that the President be confined to the White House and Member of Congress confined to the Capital Building or their office. Let them sleep in their office and eat MREs.

As I've often noted, Rand is no Ron.

While I might disagree with him at times I never see anyone questioning his motives.

You do here.

You have to respect that because his motives are pure, even if not practical in the shutdown instance.

To end this we pass a budget that increases the debt. Is that a principle Rand stands for?

The C.R. is the same Bill that Democrats have kicked down the road 12 times before...What makes it different is that this is under DJT and that Schumer is soon to be primaried.

You and Kennedy have your heads up YOUR asses.

There are government workers who are being forced to work without pay, including air traffic controllers.

How long can you work without pay? How long can most people?

There is now an air traffic controller shortage because some of them have been forced to take a second job to survive and call in sick to their ATC job, putting every traveler in jeopardy.

Rand Paul simply asked for such people to be paid instead of being forced to work without pay.

Don't be a dick.

You're mixing up the Senate versus Congress.
Congressional Representatives are allotted by the census and number of people within the state, whereas Senators are allowed only two per State.
Originally Senators were appointed by governors and not elected to represent the State under the Confederation of States thanks to Woody Willison that ends that.
