The Democrats position on funding the federal government past September 30th of this year is compelling proof that Senator Chuck Schumer needs to be replaced as leader of the Democrats in the Senate. This is coming from a writer that is no fan of the Republicans I think President Trump is a scourge on our nation that is decimating the good America offers to its own people and the world and most rank and file Republicans in Congress are a disgrace for their capitulation to this Godzilla Authoritarian in the White House and for this betrayal deserve to never be elected to government office again in America! The last straw act of Senator Schumer is his refusal to allow the Republican "Basically Clean" Continuing Resolution bill to be passed this Friday that would have funded the government through the latter part of November at the same level of last year with additional money for security for federal government officials necessitated by the assassination of the ultra-conservative leader Charlie Kirk and the hyper-partisan responses to this and political violence generally coming from both sides of the political spectrum! A "Clean" CR means a CR which funds the government at the level of the prior year it keeps everything at the status quo meaning it does its best to try not to give anyone a reason to oppose the government funding bill!
Senator Chuck Schumer's leadership here will bring about a shutdown of the Federal Gvoernment come October 1 and this will not only lead to harm to Federal workers and their families but to the private businesses that depend on Federal workers and these private businesses workers and their families and it is all needless! The Democrats have a requirements list for next year's budget which is largely good and they can negotiate for those items in the government funding bill that will need to be passed at the end of November but CRs are not the times for major negotiations they are times for members of both parties to agree to postpone the fight so the federal government can be kept open and a lot of innocent people won't be hurt. Senator Schumer knows this he has been in Congress for decades he knows the utility and the necessity of the CR option for the country!
Senator Schumer's position is absolutely and completely preposterous; in the Democrat CR he tried to pass this Friday it has a laundry list of Democrat Party wants it eviscerates a sizable portion of President Trump's signature legislation this term the "Big Beautiful Bill" the Republicans would have to be a bunch of utter fools to pass the Democrats "Long Choo Choo Train" CR. That is not the end of this bad Democrat CR, it only goes to the end of October so Congress will have to pass another government funding bill come then and you know that Democrats will have another laundry list of demands for that vote where again their votes will be needed to pass that funding bill. Overall this Democrat CR isn't reasonable at all it repeals in its entirety the Health Section of the Big Beautiful Bill a fair and good government policy person would say the Republican policy on Medicaid in the BBB is short because it won't fund adequately poor rural hospitals but there is an outrageous scandal going on in this program it is a real abusive scheme that needs to be permanently shutdown which is the current situation where in order to get higher Medicaid payments for their citizens in the Medicaid program that use hospitals in the state the states participate in a Federal program where the Federal government will match at a multiple rate contributions by a state for Medicaid payments and the way they get that contribution is by taxing the hospitals in their state, honestly it is a total scam. America needs a system where hospitals aren't tapped for this revenue stream where it is turned into a bigger revenue stream coming back to them and where there is incentive for states not to use Medicaid services to just bring Federal dollars to their state! Democrats should come forward with an alternative policy proposal which meets these goals and provides a necessary financial resources for poor rural hospitals.
On the last government funding bill in March of this year Senator Chuck Schumer blew it by caving and providing the votes to stop the debate and bring up the bill for passage and allowing the Republicans bill to pass which reneged on Speaker Kevin McCarthy's deal with President Biden to lift social program spending by one percent and that bill gave President Trump the power to cancel spending in the law at will it gave away Congress's Constitutional "Power of the Purse". Now Senator Chuck Schumer is leading the Democrat Party and the country into a needless government shutdown. The bottom line is Chuck Schumer through hubris or desperation to show he can still lead does not have the reliable wise and good judgment to lead the Democrat Conference in the Senate, to make leadership decisions on the merits of the issue and wisdom and virtue! You know what Senator Schumer is acting like now the guy in a mob with the megaphone just repeating what other members of the mob are saying he is not acting like a leader, leading his group to achieve some good things!
