The Senate signed off on dozens of President Trump's nominees hours before the deadline to either approve them or force the administration to nominate them.

The Senate confirmed more than 60 nominations by voice vote on Wednesday night, the final day of the 115th Congress.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) announced that he and Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) had reached a deal on executive-branch nominations.

"I'm glad the president will have more of his rightful team in place, and I'm glad that this group of newly confirmed nominees will be able to get to work on important business for the American people," McConnell said shortly before the slate of nominees was confirmed.

Trump has lamented the pace of confirmation votes for his picks, including blaming Schumer by name in a pair of tweets on Monday.

If you weren't so immature and intellectually stunted it would be pretty obvious.

The 'deal' was to move forward with a limited number of appointees with a quick process, with the Democrats allowing the vote to move forward without complications.

A voice vote is a very quick procedure. Bundling approval of the limited group together into a single floor motion by voice vote allowed the Senate to complete the vote in a mere five minutes, as long as the Democrats would not cause problems. But if they wanted to, the Democrats would have challenged the chair's estimation of the voice vote results, stalling the whole thing beyond the end of the session, and subsequently causing the nominations to expire.

The benefit to Democrats is that approving nominees who present little to controversy avoids the possibility that Donald will turn around and nominate people who are even more objectionable from the Democrats' point of view, while they also giving themselves a leg to stand on in the next election when they try to convince independents and undecided voters that they've made fair efforts to compromise.

Just in time to get on the government payroll for 2018 and now they are probably on vacation and will get back pay when the government re-opens.

Have anything to back up your supposition?

More from The Hill

Included in the package that cleared the Senate on Wednesday night were ambassador nominations for nearly two dozen countries, including Arthur Culvahouse Jr. to be ambassador to Australia. The post has been empty since 2016. Both retiring Sens. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) and Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) were floated for the job but said they weren't interested.

Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), the outgoing Senate majority whip, noted the ambassador confirmations adding, "about time."

In addition to ambassador picks, the Senate's final nominations package of the 115th Congress included Steve Dillingham's nomination to be director of the Census Bureau, eight U.S. attorney nominations and members of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Election Assistance Commission.

The package did not include any federal lifetime judicial nominees, which have emerged as a key priority for McConnell and the Senate GOP conference. Democrats vowed late last month that they would not sign off on including them after similar packages in 2018 earned harsh blowback from the party's progressive base.

Carmen Guerricagoitia McLean's nomination to be an associate judge of the superior court of the District Columbia was included in the final package.

These were a lot of positions the Dims claimed the president was purposely keeping unfilled. Turns out they were being held up by Schmummer and his Dim buddies.

Another win for the president.

How long have these nominees been waiting for approval?
