The senior senator from Missouri has sent a letter to the head of the Senate green jobs subcommittee, Vermont's Sen. Bernie Sanders, calling for an investigation into Green Jobs Czar Van Jones' connection to the "truther" movement.

One of the reasons Senators have been complaining about the proliferation of czars in the Obama White House is that they can be given broad portfolios without any Senate approval. Picking such a fringe character for such a big job may end up creating momentum for more Senate oversight.

You can join John McCormack's contest to guess Jones' departure date from the Obama White House at The Weekly Standard.

Here's the letter:

good for him. good for him.. time to put the truthers on the stand and make them defend the claim that our government murdered 3000 people in cold blood.

ROFLMAO... you pea brains defend government to the HILT when a Republican is in charge...

Are you THAT obtuse???

Oh so you are okay with Jones' self-acclaimed communist status and him blaming whitey for poisoning people of color. This guy has no business being in the WH. But then again, neither does Obama.

This really shows how out-of-touch Obama is with America. What a disaster for the country.

And He'll show how much more when he does another speech in front of Congress next week. (And when he addresses our children too)...

But then Obama surrouds himself with people that hate what this country is, and the founding of it.

Van Jones is a wart on a very large ass.

i agree. I abhor the use of the word czar for any position of authority in the west. It's uncreative and chock full of negative stigma.

say.. who brought that title back into our vocabulary as applied to positions of American politics?

You're joking right? We've been more than willing to go after the goverenment when Republicans were running it and when they did something stupid. The fact that you claim otherwise is indicative that you either dont pay attention or you have the memory of a toad.

Who was critical when Ted Kennedy wrote the education bill: Us
Who was critical when McCain-Fiengold passed: Us
Who was critical when they tried to pass amnesty for illegals: Us
Who was critical when they tried to expand the government through this prescription drugs plan: Us
Who was critical of their outrageous spending: Us
Who was critical of the Harriet Mier SC picK: us
Who criticzed the Dubai Ports Deal: us.

You see, when our leaders do something wrong, we criticize them, and we do it loudly. We simply dont follow you blindly when you guys criticize good things.

If Obama did something good for the country. Id be more than happy to praise him for it. It hasnt happened yet, but if he did id be more than willing to praise him for it.

I doubt you praised Bush for a damn thing. And I doubt youve criticized Obama for anything.

I agree. Especially since it was the original "Czar" that destroyed the Roman Republic.

hey, you don't have Nixon to kick around any more!

1. Communists, Conservative or Anarchist, what does the gentleman's political beliefs have to do with his fitness for the office? Are we going to start denying people office based on thier politics now?

2. What would the gentleman's inquiry into investigating the causes of 9/11 have to do with his fitness for office?

3. Is this moron really sending this request to BERNIE SANDERS, an independent, and admitted Socialist? ROFL.

And finally:

4. With all the damn morons in congress right now, spewing conspiracy theories left and right, concerning everything from the Census to the president's Birth Certificate, the Senator's time might be better spent tending to his own branch of government, before going outside of his sphere of influence to find crazy people.

And of course Kit Bond is out to get the "Green Jobs Czar", since:

The environmental watchdog group Republicans for Environmental Protection (REP) has given Bond an exceptionally low rating of –2 for the 109th United States Congress, citing anti-environment votes on seven out of seven issues deemed critical by the organization.

In addition Bond apparently is a big supporter of outsourcing:

Bond has been a great supporter of expanding free trade to the third world, and he believes in giving presidential authority to fast track trade relations. He has voted for the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the Central America Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) and believes in permanently normalizing trade relations with China and Vietnam
