Sanctuary states have already set the precedent that states do not have to aid in enforcing federal immigration laws. Likewise, the secret service which is part of the federal Department of Homeland Security, does not have to aid in the extradition of an indicted former president to the state of NY to be prosecuted by a state court.

Different government agencies have different responsibilities. The Secret Service is a Federal agency and is not responsible for executing arrest warrants for either the Federal or State governments. Their job is to protect Trump from physical harm, not act as Law officers.

If you had read the article you posted, you'd know the N.Y. DA is negotiating with Trumps lawyers for his transport to N.Y. and his formal arrest. Since the Secret Service is responsible for his safety, they need more time to prepare for the transport. That will probably be done in secret.

The secret service first responsibility is the well being of the former president. A state indictment does not mean Trump is guilty of anything.
