That sounds plausible to me.Also a dead US soldier was found in the wreckage of a C-130 - due to that firefight that had erupted at the landing site - which would indicate/proof that not the US forces blew up the C-130's and MH-6M helicopters. But Iranian ground forces.
This would match Iranian reports claiming that they foiled a US plan - that was not related to the WSO rescue.
I'm old enough to remember Carter's Operation Eagle Claw in April of 1980.
If I'm remembering correctly, it took decades for Americans to learn the full extent of their government's failure in that episode.
I suspect the Internet has made it far more difficult for those who profit from wars of aggression to cover up their many crimes/failures?
