Seattle man strolls across freeway, steals lady cop's vehicle after tossing her to the ground

The sheriff mag dumped on him. I forget how many bullets he had in his back.
Well shooting at a vehicle speeding away is not Hollywood. Odds of one of those rounds hitting someone else are probably much higher than hitting the vehicle, and hitting the vehicle with a pistol round? Meh.

Now why in the hell would taxpayer's be held responsible to pay the victim's family in such a way ????? This is what is wrong in this country big time today....

Ok she was a police officer, but she was not on official duty when the incident occurred, so how does her actions by mistake equate to the county or city having to pay out any money in such a case ????????

She was totally responsible, and her estate no matter how small should have been the only award the victim's family should have received. Free burial maybe ? I could go with that, but no way should taxpayer's had footed the entire bill or even part of it in a wrongful death suit that didn't involve the county or city directly.
Ok then. Take away their right to arrest people while off duty. Because she acted as a cop at the time. She used her department issued weapon. Did she announce herself as a police officer?
Those things matter.
See, cops still have some legal authority while off-duty. We should take that away. They shouldnt be driving their cop cars while off duty. They shouldnt be in uniform or have their issued weapon. If im doing something and some dude in a tshirt starts running for me, im going to defend myself. Whether he says he is a cop or not. I shouldnt be charged with beating the shit out of a cop when they are off duty.

I've seen some pretty tough broads out there. Who am I to say she isn't as tough as some guy especially if she can pass the test and wants to be a cop? I think what you are really complaining about is that some women get on the force or in the military in places they clearly are not cut out for, so like I said, maybe we need to toughen the standard.

Yeah, probably not. Like I said, if they have inferior bones or strength or something, then they should fail the entrance test.
Not complaining, so not sure where that came from ? The rest I agree - Toughen standards again. Stop with the play play role playing in society.

Really not enough video to make a judgment. I can't help wondering why her door wasn't locked while she was in it.

We had some girl stop us a couple months ago frantically waving her hands and claiming she was being chased by men. My instincts immediately had me lock the doors as she approached and she actually grabbed the door handle. Only had the window cracked to hear her.
While talking to 911, we come to find out the men chasing her were the staff from the nearby mental health facility that she escaped from.

Never trust anyone approaching your vehicle.

There are also plenty of stupid male cops who have lost their cars to suspects.

A couple days ago I pulled up to a red light that was near a bus stop. Some dude was standing there alone, and I noticed him looking at me. He walked over and knocked on my window three times, and asked 'Do you know what time it is?" I answered "three o'clock" and he says "I can't hear you, can you roll down the window?"

I just held up three fingers, and said again "three o'clock". He then started ranting something about needing a ride, and I heard him pull on the passenger door handle. Door was locked. The light turned green and I drove off. It made me wonder what I would have done if he opened the door. I could have pushed him out of my car, but if you are buckled in, you can't move freely. And what if he pulls a knife?

I don't know if I would have had the room and freedom of movement to punch him in the face, he posed no physical threat based on his size, and my takeaway is to get the seatbelt off first thing. I didn't think like that until this happened.

I am not coddling criminals in any way. I am following the law. You can't just shoot someone because they are stealing your car or fleeing.
I disagree. Come try stealing my car and you’ll find out.

Kill me and you will go to prison. Guaranteed. It happens every day when people shoot thieves as they are no threat to their safety. Stealing your car doesn't harm you physically. Castle doctrine does not apply to stealing your car. But you knew that, didn't you?

Disagree about the safety aspect of your post, because first off a carjacker has all the points attributed to them for becoming a huge threat to safety of not only becoming a huge danger to the owner of the vehicle, but now he's a danger to the general public at large in his new weapon of mass destruction.

Ending the danger before it becomes everyone else's problem at large is the best solution. There is way to much precedence that shows what happens when things are allowed to escalate beyond the windows they are originally constrained too.

No actually. It depends on the jurisdiction. In Texas it is in the statute that lethal force may be used to stop theft of your auto.

Goes back to the old days when stealing your horse meant it highly likely you would die.

Come try to take my car, putz. I’ll plant a knife on your corpse. I come from multiple generations of law enforcement and am well aware of the loopholes.

Except for your neighbor's security camera that catches the whole thing! Then you'll wind up on Dateline or one of those other murder mystery shows. You are hilarious! Do you do stand-up?

Camera's are even better, because then the totality of the situation showing the brazen criminal committing a heinous crime (that he might have gotten shot for committing), is now known. The people would support the action because they have seen what happens Judicially these day's to criminals with their slap on their wrist. The Democrats have been guilty of actually emboldening criminals with their rogue judge's revolving door, and the Democrat judge's total disregard for the law.

The good citizen should be rewarded with a hero's thank you for removing a pure POCrap from the streets, and from the judicial time trap that ends up costing we the America taxpayer unbelievable money trying to incarcerate and then house these career criminals for what may be uhhhh around upwards of 50+ year's now ?????

Some people don't deserve the justice system defense budget funds being dished out to these ridiculous agendas and indviduals that they have been used by.
