Health insurance companies are total ******* assholes. They don't give a damn about anything other than your money. It's a system that simply doesn't benefit most people, except the super rich

Not really. Policies have liability limits, the higher the limit the higher the premiums, and few here ever get more than the minimum, in some states it can be as low as $10K. The rest you have to sue for; good luck getting anything out of an illegal alien or the average working class stiff. they just go bankrupt after you seize the $14.27 left on their debit cards.

When you go to Spain, I noticed you pay upfront to see a doctor, then pay for whatever medicine etc.. from then on. Then when you get back home, you reclaim it back.

About 15 years ago, the wife at the time had an upset stomach when we were in Spain. Once we found out how healthcare costs and reclaiming the money back etc.. worked, we waited a couple of days and she was fine.

So after that, all I can say to folk who travel, read the small print and take a credit card with a good credit level on it. My credit limit on my credit card is £13,200.

We had an EHIC card so the treatment was covered and we paid nothing apart from the ambulance. Of course we were in the EU then.
But if you are going to the third world that is good advice.
