Schumer complains about Maduro arrest

So it's okay for Trump to break the law to accomplish his goals. And you're okay with him just taking Greenland? Sounds like a guy we used to know.
bobo were is your UN?...how come they dont get involved in all these wars and situations going on?..

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) on Sunday blasted President Donald Trump following the capture Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro, saying Trump’s “lawlessness” was pushing America into an endless war “with no discussion.”

But back in 2020, Schumer criticized Trump for not getting rid of Maduro. The New York Democrat said at the time Trump “brags” about everything but fails to deliver.

“Maybe the best metaphor was his claim to bring Democracy to Venezuela,” Schumer said during a Senate speech. “There was a big policy there. It flopped.”

“And the president brags about his Venezuela policy? Give us a break,” he continued. “He hasn’t brought an end to the Maduro regime. The Maduro regime is more powerful today and more entrenched today than when the president began [his first term].”

But his tune seemingly changed this weekend after the Trump administration arrested Maduro and flew him to Schumer’s state to face narco-terrorism charges.

On Sunday morning, Schumer told George Stephanopoulos on ABC’s This Week he had a number of problems with Trump’s Venezuela operation.

Schumer also said he had an issue with the Trump Administration failing to give Congress a heads-up on the Venezuela strike. Trump on Saturday told reporters he did not tell Congress about it beforehand because lawmakers have a “tendency to leak.”

Comment:
Chuck Schumer has once again proven that the Democrats have no real principles or integrity.
They are making asses of themselves once again.
Maduro was a corrupt Marxist dictator who was admired by crazy left wingers such as Sean Penn and Bernie Sanders.
/----/ What I don't get is why Maduro got involved in drugs. Venezuela is sitting on 300 billion barrels of oil, 20% of the world reserves—more than Saudi Arabia. All he had to do was maintain the wells and sell the oil. Everyone in the country would be incredibly wealthy; Maduro would be worth at least a billion. But he let the infrastructure rust away and got involved in drugs.
Trump offered him a deal to be exiled in Turkey with enough of his stolen money to live in luxury. But he refused.
Makes no sense.

You do know they have no real power right? Should they? Is that what you want one world order? I do. One government. Then Trump couldn't get away with this. But then I guess the President could give Greenland to America. It would be like giving Michigan the UP.

It's like asking what I would do as Japan, Germany and Italy are taking over the world.

Well just remember that this has been going on for thousands of years. I thought this stuff was over at the turn of the century but apparently not.

Who's to blame for all this? GW Bush and Dick Chaney. I truly believe that. Invading Iraq over lies. Even Trump knows Bush did that. It's why Trump complained when like Bush Trump broke the law. How come Pelosi didn't impeach Bush over lying us into Iraq? But then they come after me? In a way I understand his feelings. And Bush got away with rigging 2 elections why should Trump be convicted of it? Why go after him when you ignored all the shady shit Bush did? I get it!

Now how could the USA tell Russia they can't invade Ukraine?

And China is watching our every move. They're going to take Taiwan now. Why shouldn't they?

So maybe Bush opened up a can of worms and now the USA can either do it too or just sit by and watch China and Russia take over valuable resources? Imperialism.

Imperialism is the policy or practice of extending a nation's power and influence over foreign territories, often through direct territorial conquest or by establishing political and economic control, motivated by desires for wealth, resources, markets, or perceived cultural superiority, leading to profound transformations, exploitation, cultural clashes, and new global power dynamics. It involves both "hard power" (military force) and "soft power" (cultural influence) and can manifest as formal empires or indirect control, distinct from but often overlapping with colonialism.
I’m certain the US government believes it can do whatever it wants, but will oppose Russia and China doing exactly the same thing.

Somehow many Americans fail to see the hypocrisy of this policy. Apparently they believe we are the world’s indispensable nation. As such, they have no problems or concerns with the US government committing crimes.

Lol. Silly question.

The UN is controlled by the same forces controlling most of the world’s governments.

Do you not know the US government has been dealing drugs for decades?

Do you know what the word hypocrisy means?

The "endless war" with Venezuela was over in about 30 minutes.

Democrats say whatever they believe will score them the most political points any any given moment, to be repeated ad nauseam by their flock of useless idiots.
If they have to reverse themselves the very next day, they think nothing of it, and the useless idiots aren't smart enough to notice,.

Think about this you MAGA idiots. The Senate wasn't informed of what Trump was going to do. But the oil companies were.

Didn't our founders warn us about corporations taking over our country? Or the rich and powerful taking over our government? I think we are there. The corporations control the courts and White House.

JZ once sang "yo, I'm not a businessman I'm a BUSINESS, MAN! So is Trump. So is the USA. Workers are fucked but the CEO/King has made $10 billion dollars already.
How was the Senate going to secure oil fields in Venezula?

How are corporation taking over our country, when they are being informed of something that is happening in a foreign country?

so like me you agree that they are pretty useless?....
Yes but unlike you, I think we should make them useful.

So they can stop bullies like Israel, Russia, China and the USA.

We would be so much better off if we weren't fighting each other for natural resources. They say our civilization has a 99% chance of wiping ourselves out in the next 10,000 years.

Natural resources like in Ukraine, Venezuela and Greenland.

Should have consulted the Senate first. Trump was afraid of leaks. Doesn't trust the government. But he does trust Shell Oil.

there is no requirement that the President consult Congress before taking action of this nature the law says he must inform them with in 48 hours after taking action.

/---/ What laws did T

rump break?
Where to begin. US Laws or international laws? He absolutely broke international law. If Trump didn't break any laws then a President moving forward can do whatever they want and use whatever justification Trump is using here.

Recent news reports from late 2025 and early 2026 detail several instances where the Trump administration has been ruled by federal judges or government watchdogs to have violated the law.

Mass Termination of Federal Workers
Deployment of National Guard
Withholding of Congressionally Appropriated Funds
Go after political rivals
Misuse of Government Resources
Attacks on law firms
Getting FCC to fire Kimmel
34 felony counts

With this guy you have to be more specific.

Why? He trust the Govt, just not Dems.

Show me where the US President has to consult Congress on executing Court orders?

I'm reading an article in the Atlantic right now. Sounds like you. Does it matter?

the Trump movement is a cult of personality, with no consistent principles and no concern for truth, many of its boosters don’t care whether the success is real or phony. They don’t care whether the advertised “success” actually happened the way Trump says it did. They don’t care whether the so-called success achieves anything important or lasting. They don’t care if there later turns out to be a corrupt underside. They celebrate peace plans that don’t bring peace, trade deals that don’t enhance trade. The Trump movement exists to glorify Trump, in all his erratic mania. Results in the real world don’t matter.

Does it matter you are reading an article in the Atlantic? No, I don't care at all, good for you.

Not sure what your second paragraph is all about, sounds like just whining and deflection.
