They have a thin majority, which means they don't control 3 branches of government.

The only way they could control congress is with super-majorities in both the House and the Senate.

The problem is Republicans just suck at governing. They can't build bipartisan support for anything because their policies are patently ridiculous and harmful to our nation.

2. If they held 60+ seats in the Senate you could make that argument. But they don’t so….

3. Republicans historically do not vote as a monolith. The Dems are much better at keeping their people in line so this slim majority isn’t nearly as useful to them.

If Republicans didn't suck at governing they would have bipartisan support for policies and then the Senate would function as it is intended to. Effective governance requires compromise though and the current gaggle of radical MAGAts is incapable of that.

The annual defense appropriations bill was blocked largely along party lines on Friday, with only a handful of Senate Democrats joining Republicans to advance the measure. While President Donald Trump made a temporary move to ensure that military service members were paid, that funding won't last forever.

Check the polling on public support for the ACA. The majority of voters like having access to affordable healthcare. It is congress' job to give the American people what they want. Republicans are out of touch with their voters. Besides this isn't even really about healrhcare. It is about Mike Johnson keeping your government shut down and dysfunctional in order to keep from having to swear in Adelita Grijalva before he can coerce at least one of the four Republicans who have signed onto the Epstein file discharge petition to change their vote.

Then why didn't Congress address the issue last year or the prvious three when a simple majority of the Democratic controlled congress could have extended the healthcare programs pass 2025? Only two reasons they didn't. they wanted a wedge issue to try to control republicans or they are just plain dumb.
