This is one thing always in the back of my mind as a parent of a Middle Schooler and High Schooler.... and I certainly can understand the fear and pain that the parents of students in that school must be going through

How many schools practice fire drills? Probably all of them.
How many schools practice active shooter drills? Probably none of them.
How many school fires have there been in the last 30 years?
How many school shootings have there been in the last 30 years?

Until people get serious about preparing for this kind of thing (which unfortunately happens with some regularity) we will continue to have fatalities.
