I ran up on this late 1920s (I figure between 1926-28) Savage NRA Match today. They quit making them in 1933.
It came out of a local military academy many years ago and they used them to train the students there. They also hosted my HS's shooting team at the time. There's a rack number on the heel of the stock (23).
They were designed to approximate the Springfield M1903 in general handling/appearance but it was never adopted officially as a .mil trainer.....The NRA worked with Savage on it's development and they were very popular with the rifle clubs of the era due to decent quality/accuracy meeting price point.
This one is in very good shape and came with a Kerr sling. It's also notable that it has it's OEM rear sight. They were not the stoutest and are often replaced by a Redfield sight designed for the later Savage NRA 1933.
