I don't know if it's permanent, but it could take a generation to heal, and we appear to be a long way from even starting.

Domestically, we now literally exist in two different realities. The only way that changes is if strong, serious, intelligent, honorable leaders take over the GQP and yank it back from where it is.

Globally, our place may be gone forever. Tech, especially AI, are changing the playing field, and we're quickly getting to the point at which we'll no longer be the One Indispensable Country. It was probably inevitable, but what Trump has done has exponentially sped up that process. The world gave us one (1) pass for electing him once, but they're now done with us.
