Saddest Movies You Ever Saw?

I cried at the end of Con Air when I saw it for the first time. I hated to see Nicholas Cage cry.

God bless you and him always!!!

Holly

P.S. Jack Frost is a film that I will never watch again.

The scene in Steel Magnolias where Sally Field breaks down at her daughter’s funeral

Sally Field is a great actress. She was also great in the film, "Not Without My Daughter". A very sad film about American women who have a hard time bringing their child back to the USA after they decide to marry and live with their husband in a middle eastern country.

Other Sad films thought of:

Ordinary People - one of the most depressingly sad films I ever saw.
Heartburn
Charley

Green Mile was so sad. Based off a novel by one of my favorite author's, Steven King.

Apt Pupil, a lesser known film based off of Steven King's works I found to be a very sad film.

A lot of Steven King's novels besides being scary also had elements of a lot of sadness and sorrow.

Yes. I doubt Stephen King was a very happy person himself given the theme of almost all his books. I feel the same way about Ernest Hemingway. Another sad movie was the film rendition of Hermingway's The Old Man and the Sea.

Shane.

Grizzly Adam's. Saw it at age 12 or so at the theater. I was sad at the end at by his being all alone.

The Pawnbroker. Saw it as an adult on TV. Had to stop before the end. Couldn't watch him suffer any more.

Charly (Flowers for Algernon)

I remember going to see it in 1968 and watching the previous audience shuffling out of the theater. I have seen much happier people at wakes.

Not a movie technically, but the scene in futurama where Fry’s dog waits for him everyday at the pizza place he worked until he (the dog) finally lay down on the sidewalk and died of old age.

One of the few scenes of a tv show that can actually make me cry a little

Another TV clip

On Golden Girls, Rose (who is a counselor by profession in the show) helps Sofia to finally grieve over the death of her crossdressing son.

“My baby is gone”, never seen an actor put so much raw emotion into a line.

And, yeah, Rose may have been stupid but she was a damn good grief counselor
