S&W M&P 9

If it was brand new then all guns have a break in period. Once you fire a couple hundred rounds it will not be so tight. But compact pistols tend to have a tighter recoil spring vs full frame models.

How you pull it back can make a difference as well.

My mother has arthritis and I showed her how I pull my slide and it made it a lot easier on her.

I hold it in my right hand and bend my wrist in so the barrel is pointing to my left, grab the back of the slide with my thumb on its left my palm on the top and other fingers on the right side, you push the gun to the left while your hand on the top pushing to the right. Not the best explanation but should give you the idea.

All you lead lovers best start thinking of life AFTER guns.
No doubt at this point they are going to take them.
You know it...you see it every day...but will deny it.

That said, I like my Taurus and my Ruger compact 9.
The Ruger is insanely accurate.
S&W makes some fine stuff too.

Absolutely none of that has anything to do with the topic of conversation nor answers his questions.

Wife has a Beretta storm compact. The slide is like butter and that rotating barrel action drinks the recoil.
I'll remember that. Mine is not into shooting, though many, many years ago when I left for the military the first time, she got pretty good with an old fashion .38 special.

Yes just like that. We used that grip just a few minutes ago to open a stuck slide.

Out of all the sidearms I own only three are tactical tupperware, plastic fantastics, whatever ya want to call them. One is my accurate and dependable Taurus G2C with it's less than stellar trigger and a slide that sounds like grating coconut hulls when racked......... One is my KelTec P17 and the other is my pseudo Glock clone, the SAR9 with it's improved Glock style slide on a VP9 lower. Now that thing is comfortable to hold and shoot.
