Russia unleashed a missile strike to 'sink' a cargo ship amid an unconfirmed claim it was carrying British weapons for use by Ukraine.

Two Iskander-M ballistic missiles hit the Panama-flagged container ship MSC LEVANTE F - reportedly Swiss-owned - soon after it arrived in Odesa on March 1, after making a stop in Turkey.

The report of the attack comes as British prime minister Sir Keir Starmer today hosts Volodymyr Zelensky and other European leaders to discuss the future of the wartorn nation following the Ukrainian president's televised spat with US president Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance.

Russian Telegram war channel Talipov Online said: 'It was established that in Turkey the ship loaded additional containers of two colours on board - red and yellow - which contained British sea drones and weapons from the Turkish NATO base.

'Upon arrival at the port of Odesa, the ship was hit by two missiles at berth number two at 18:00.

'After the strike detonations began, the cargo was completely destroyed, the ship sank.'

So, secondary explosions after the strike.

Meh, if you don't want your ships sunk, don't put weapons on them and send them to a war zone.

If it was carrying weapons, I'd say it was a legit target. That precedent was set in WW1 and has been solidified ever since.

Interesting that it was sunk at the port. Trying to create a hazard to navigation or block access to a pier/dock in addition to destroying the cargo?

Of course, a stationary target is easier to hit.

UK is an ally and we do have a mutual defense treaty with them if I am not mistaken. Looks like Full out multi nation war soon. Which side will we be on as a nation? I hope Trump does not become another Nevill Chamberlin.
To be safe I will tighten up my finances and be ready for the worst and hope for the best.

Two port workers were believed to have been wounded in the strike, which also damaged infrastructure, Ukrainian reports said.

Russian Telegram channel TalipoV [sic] Online Z claimed that the vessel was loaded with drones and weaponry that had been collected from a NATO based in Turkey before being transported to Odesa in Ukraine.
However, the channel is run by pro-Putin, Crimea-based blogger Oleksandr Talipov, who was charged with 'nation-based enmity against Ukrainian citizens' and hate speech by Ukrainian prosecutors in 2022.
Tapipov said: 'It was established that in Turkey the ship loaded additional containers of two colours on board - red and yellow - which contained British sea drones and weapons from the Turkish NATO base.
Ukrainian vice prime minister Oleksii Kuleba challenged the Russian account and said that the vessel was carrying 'completely civilian cargoes'.
The container ship was struck as it prepared to unload, according to the Russian report.
A strike on the 482ft MSC LEVANTE F was confirmed by Odesa region governor Oleg Kiper.

Commentary:
Guess Keir Starmer kind of invited that didn’t he?
Ol’ Teddy said walk softly and carry a big stick.
Well, Two-tier Keir has not been walking softly but nonetheless I hope he’s carrying a big stick. But I think not. Chest thumping has its consequences.
If European Globalists want a war they may just get one. It would have been better if they had backed Trump.
The Ukrainian people would be better off under Putin than involved in an endless war. So a loss is not a total disaster for the Ukrainian people. Worse would be decades of an unwinnable war and the attrition of manpower. Of course Europe can step in and give up their blood and treasure - which might be in their best interest. But it’s not in our best interest to keep an unwinnable war going for years. That might work for everyone.
Zelensky’s not a Democratic leader - he’s an elite thug. He’s cancelled all elections, doesn’t allow free speech, closed the churches - how is he that much better than Putin?
While the United States can concentrate on our hemisphere -slowly China's move into South American to take rare earth metals.
Additionally, THE U.S. would save a bundle NOT supplying munitions to the Ukrainian thug. Europe seems well prepared to give their money to Zelensky for years. So let them. Not our circus - not our monkeys.

Well, that was quick. I guess the UK better load another boat full!

Good thing we aren't stuck with any security guarantee for Ukraine!

Trump's steel trap mind wins again.

Ukraine is where Westerners go to launder money. Think Hunter Biden and Burisma.

Indeed
I was just saying if the Europeans are going he's going to test them

😂 That was fast

US people may be better off under Chinese control rather than endlessly trying to maintain its useless resistance to Chinese superiority, so it wouldn't be a total loss to them.

Not that I wouldn't want it, but I can't see any mentioning of that in any of the Russian media yet.
