Lesbian ‘DEI hire’ captain charged over sinking of $100M navy ship

2 Mar 2026

The lesbian “diversity hire” captain of a Royal New Zealand Navy ship that ran aground and sank off Samoa has been charged with negligence along with two other officers over the loss of the vessel.
The $100 million HMNZS Manawanui, which was under the command of UK-born homosexual Yvonne Gray, crashed on the south side of Upolu on October 5, 2024, due to human error including failure to turn off autopilot, an inquiry found last year.
Commander Gray, Lieutenant Commander Matthew Gajzago and a third officer will now face court-martial over the disaster, which was the navy’s first ship loss since World War 2, and resulted in New Zealand paying Samoa NZ$6 million in compensation for environmental destruction that resulted from the crash.
The charges were laid and certified for trial on Monday, and while pleas have not been entered Commander Gray indicated through her lawyers that she intends to fight the allegations, The New Zealand Herald reported.

Another of the female captains praised alongside Ms. Gray, Fiona Jameson, crashed her own ship in May 2024.
“The direct cause of the grounding has been determined as a series of human errors which meant the ship’s autopilot was not disengaged when it should have been,” Chief of Navy Rear Admiral Garin Golding said while announcing the results of the inquiry in November.
“The crew did not realize Manawanui remained in autopilot and, as a consequence, mistakenly believed its failure to respond to direction changes was the result of a thruster control failure.
“Having mistakenly assessed a thruster control failure, standard procedures should have prompted ship’s crew to check that the ship was under manual control rather than in autopilot. This check did not occur.
“Remaining in autopilot resulted in the ship maintaining a course toward land, until grounding and eventually stranding.”

Commentary:
The tragic result of DEI. Per the article, another New Zealand Navy DEI-hire lesbian commanding officer also sunk her vessel in 2024. Two for two.
At least this didn't happen in the Netherlands, they could have hit dykes. ;)

Here's the thing that people absolutely don't get (or refuse to acknowledge) ...

A lesbian, a trans, a Lithuanian dwarf is perfectly capable of being a ship captain, an astronaut, or a lion tamer -- given the aptitude, the training, the experience, and the drive to become that to which they aspire ...

... but ... Choosing a professional based on anything OTHER than their professional qualifications makes planes fall out of the sky, multi-million dollar warships sink, and gets unqualified people turned into lion droppings.

The Royal New Zealand Navy (even smaller than the current Iranian Navy if you only count the vessels not at the bottom of the ocean) made the conscious decision to promote this person based on her sexual preference rather than her professional ability and it resulted in the NZ Navy losing it's first warship since The Second World War.

The report on the sinking, completed last year but only recently made public, states that the Commanding Officer wasn't qualified on the type of ship she commanded. The people on the bridge at the time of the accident (which didn't include the captain despite it being a regulation for her to be on the bridge within 1 NM of land) weren't qualified to operated the unique propulsion systems of this ship.

The ship's propulsion system didn't respond to the controls because it had been put into autopilot on a heading for land and everyone on the bridge and in the engineering spaces FORGOT. No one used the emergency procedure checklists that would have quickly determined that the ship was on an autopilot heading for land. This is 100% the fault of the commanding officer who is responsible for all decisions of operational readiness aboard her ship.

The report also mentions that when giving the crew commands to abandon ship, she TWICE ordered all crew members to "use the loo" before entering the life rafts.

I disagree on the Lithuanian dwarf. Useless I tell ya, useless.

One would have thought the courts martial sufficient evidence to show the officers are not being treated differently.

But you know, MAGAts will MAGAt.

No. I disagree. Dishonourable discharge and a prison sentence is the only punishment good enough.
