“KGB agent? Russian Hitler? Political clown? Over the course of his long career Vladimir Zhirinovsky was many things, but never dull. On Wednesday, the speaker of the Russian parliament said Zhirinovsky had died after a long and serious illness…”

Just can’t wait to see what our own crazy Russian ultra-nationalists have to say about this clown, his party and the role he has played in Russia over the years …

Did he eat some bad soup?

Waiting for something a bit more intellectually nourishing than “Did he eat some bad soup?” It is worth seriously thinking about rightwing national populism as it expresses itself in Russia, as well as in Europe and the U.S.A. There are, after all, many points of similarity.

I would especially like to hear from those who supported Trump, or who admired Putin as a “strong leader,” or who supported other rightwingers like Steve Brannon in his efforts to build a “rightwing International.” What did you think of Zhirinovsky?

Far right Tom? There's nothing or nobody that can be said to be further right than the political right in America today.
Even though it's still just their stated intentions and has yet to be carried out.
It's a propaganda piece that should be below your level Tom.

Starting fires certainly was Zhirinovsky's forte. He variously proposed enclosing the northern Caucasus with barbed wire, spoke of dropping a nuclear bomb on Istanbul, and threatened a female journalist with rape. He often blustered about occupying Ukraine. With Zhirinovsky, there were no red lines. Like the communists, he too was a dinosaur of Russian politics whose career began in the latter days of the Soviet Union.

Is there anything in that that would back up the accusation of him being far right?

America's political right should have lots to say about that, to keep you busy for a while!

A propaganda piece? It was a simple DW obituary. Do you know anything about this guy? He was a far right nationalist, a Russian ultra-nationalist and imperialist. Do you doubt that? Did you think Zhirinovsky was a good guy? A “leftist”? A “progressive”? Not a reactionary? Anything inaccurate in the article?

Yes, agreed, low IQ cynicism is flaccid. Priorities must exclude Zhirinovsky for now.
