The US however..is a major player.

Russia has very little clout on the international stage, economically.

The US however..is a major player.

True, but we have no backbone. (not just under Obama, for a long time now)
America notoriously acts outside of it's best interest internationally. In some respects we are like Saudi Arabia, we give money/favors to both sides trying to appease everyone.
Russia/China/Sweden/France is the alternative source for weaponry if you can't get it from America. China is an alternate source for purchasing natural resources if America won't.
The have options.
Russia/China will act in their best interest. We don't.

True....not too make this anti-Obama...but the Canadian pipeline is a great example.
Holy Cow is this good for America, but politically Obama wants to appease the tree huggers...so we wait, and wait, and wait. Even though the benefit is enormous on many levels - many levels.
This is what I mean, America often acts outside of it's interest for political reasons.
