Except the "head" you speak of has already been detached. If Russia attacked a NATO country Trump would not attack Russia, this is what's emerging from all this.

Why would the US risk a nuclear strike from Russia just because an EU state was attacked?

Russia can at any time attack a US aircraft carrier with a tactical nuclear weapon and ship is gone, the US really doesn't want that so why risk it at all?

Trump has clearly been distancing himself from the old Cold War policies toward Russia.

If the EU,NATO members had any sense they'd understand this and start talking to Russia.

You'd soon care, the US has the highest par capita consumption, it consumes much more per person than any other country, that's why it imports so much, to feed the greedy American appetite.

That's where this trade "deficit" comes from, other countries consume less, their economies and population are just less greedy so exports from the US can never balance imports into the US.

If that supply dries up life over there sinks like you can't imagine.

Ukraine has strong fascist leanings and since the government was overthrown with US help it has provoked Russia in the belief the US would jump in. It acted like the brat in the playground bullying others because it knew big brother would take care of any response.

Russia said (shortly before the war erupted) that it had no plans to attack Ukraine so long as it agreed to never join NATO, what happened?

Ukraine, the US and EU all refused to even consider that, would not even discuss the issue, so Russia said **** it.
